Here’s a pic I took of one of the bomb shelter signs And I think this is the blog where I first read about it. https://pauls-bologna.blog/2022/08/31/bologna-memories-of-war-time/
Been to Bologna twice and love it, like others said it’s an amazing food town. There is also some WWII history there, if you pay attention walking around you’ll see markings on some buildings from bullets as well as signs pointing to bomb shelters. In the main square there is a huge wall with picture of people from the Italian resistance. I went once in July when it was super hot, that’s when thier famous porticos really come in handy. I’ve never done it but you can walk under the porticoes way up a hill there is also a public transport where you could take it up there and walk back. Here it is. https://www.italymagazine.com/dual-language/bolognas-portico-di-san-luca-longest-world Pretty much every day we were there (I think 6 days between 2 trips) we’d find some random church or restaurant or sight on the other side of town and just walk to it and back and spend the day cafe/bar hopping and admiring the city and people. lots of highly rated cooking classes you can take to, looks like a really fun group activity but I’ve never done it.
It is really amazing how powerful the anti-LGBTQ message is, it's probably as powerful a motivator to vote R as just about any issue. Really sad reality.
