The entire Pacific coast of Costa Rica is financially supported by Americans. They canāt afford to kick us out. But yeah, I am now eligible for CR residency and/or citizenship if I want it. My wife and I will likely start that process soon.
We have a condo under construction in Costa Rica that should be ready before the end of this year. At that time we are planning on spending about 8 months a year in CR and likely selling at least one of our places in Port A. May sell both and buy something in Scottsdale or just basically live in CR full time and do short term rentals when we want/need to go back to the states.
Nothing at all to do with politics, just lifestyle choices. The more time we spend out of the U.S. the less we miss it.
Iāve fished a lot of tournaments over the years. Honestly this one is the most fun tournament Iāve ever done. And the girls- wiring fish to hooking their own fish on circle hooks to rigging baits to the party - they can do it all.
See thereās a bright side to everything. I keep waiting to get dropped . Yet another benefit of being less than 1 year away from living in Costa Rica almost full time.
Well at least you didnāt put my wife last. All 5 of them clean up very nicely and as a bonus absolutely love fishing. Iāll see if I can find some of the pictures from the awards party.
Fished the Pescadora Lady Angler tournament Friday and Saturday out of our home Marina Pez Vela in Costa Rica. 57 teams competing, max 5 girls per boat. They allow hook and hand where a guy can hook the fish and then hand it to a female to reel in or you can go IGFA rules where the girls hook their own fish and earn bonus points. We chose IGFA even though our girls arenāt nearly as experienced as the other teams here.
Day 1 was amazing. We bounced up and down between 1st and 7th place all day, finally holding 2nd place for almost the last 3 hours of the tournament. However with 2 minutes remaining a boat caught a doubleheader sailfish to pass us by one fish and knocking us out of the Day 1 money (only 2 boats get paid). Our girls released 20 sailfish out of 38 bites and 2 blue marlin from 2 bites. an amazing job by our team to finish the day that high on the leaderboard.
Day 2 didnāt go nearly as well. We went 11/21 on sailfish and 0/2 on blue marlin and just never found the right spot to fish. We still ended up finishing 17th out of 57 teams, and 7th place of all IGFA teams.
The girls were so excited about the result they have decided to become a permanent team, practice fishing here whenever possible and also fishing in Guatemala and entering all the female tournaments they can.
Not that it matters, but the thing that is killing us in the poll rankings is the opening loss to Ohio State. We were #19 and dropped out. Win that and we are 8-0 and likely ranked around #10 going into the UConn game.
My boat is still in the yard getting work done, but 2 weekends ago in the Rockstar Tournament out of our marina in Quepos, CR the team Iāve fished many tournaments with won what is believed to be the largest payout in the world ever for an all release tournament. My former full time captain and now part time captain plus my current captain and a few friends were on the team. They swept both daily jackpots, all sonar release divisions, and the overall jackpots for a total of 1.16 million dollars. As a side note Michael Jordan brought his boat Catch 23 down for the season and fished the tournament. He won the Day 1 marlin jackpot for 180,000.
Yup. While Onyema has been a mild surprise Shedrick has sucked ass. This team unfortunately just isnāt very good and I donāt think there is anything RT can do about it now. Thankfully if we miss the tournament there is no way we bring him back.
Yeah I mean I guess there is a like a 1% chance they arenāt related, but come on. The Tesla was parked directly in front of the Trump hotel. It exploded with no one in it. It was a bomb.
Yes and thankfully I am in Texas right now and not there to see it in person. Iāll go down a few days before they finish and the boat should look as good as it ever did by then. Actually better looking because while we have it in the yard we are doing some paint touch up work and installing an a/c unit for the cockpit.
Itās probably a wash. Mechanic price is the same, boatyard labor is cheaper but we had to pay a small fortune in shipping and taxes ro get the engines down to CR.
Merry Xmas to me. One old engine was removed yesterday. The other engine should be out by end of day. Mechanic is taking tomorrow off then installing the new engines that are sitting in a box in the boatyard ready to go. After that itās just a matter of hooking everything back up and then reinstalling the deck and back window that was cut out. That project starts on the 2nd and should take 3 weeks.
Some guys take longer than others to come back from injury and start playing at a high level. I donāt think weāve seen enough yet to say that Mark wonāt end up being huge for this team.
