  1. Sazerac, old fashioned, and manhattans are my 3 go-tos. I hate campari so I can't do any drinks involving that, but I've been playing with some vieux carrés lately.
  2. Hot damn this is the truth. I have to answer standard computer questions weekly, not to mention run CCleaner/Malwarebytes frequently due to my dad, ahem, contracting spam/viruses from browsing certain....sites....... why can't that mental flexibility be lost first?
  3. Mother in law got me some sear grates and seasoning from rectec for christmas. Unfortunately I already have the seasoning she gave me so I called them to see if I could exchange it for another. They asked which one I wanted and just shipped it to me free of charge. Their customer service really does kick ass
  4. From what I've heard, it's on the lower end of pellet grills quality wise and the PID controller is sub-par. They also were sued for false/deceptive marketing or something on their pellets Prime rib from Christmas. It was awesome. I overcooked it by about 5 degrees from searing but it was still spectacular
  5. They were told dishwasher was empty. Seems common manners, no? Also, MIL just knocked her whole glass of water on wife's laptop. Good stuff
  6. In laws, BIL, and gf are in town I made breakfast, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher so it is now empty... Come back to the sink after eating and...

  8. I have nearly 30 direct reports. It sucks and has opened my eyes that I absolutely hate some types of people. Jocko Willink (ex-Seal, writer, pretty good podcast) has a few books on executive management and, in general, decent life habits that I've attempted to implement in my management style. Probably the most important of them, particularly when you're leading 30 people, is decentralized command. I have 2 assistant managers that I hand of a lot to and, both of whom, clearly understand my overall objective(s). I trust them to implement my plan and provide honest feedback. It's worked pretty well thus far and, as a plus, helps foster and develop their leadership skills as well. One other thing that I've learned....no matter what you do, there will always be negative people and they are a fucking cancer. I give those people the shit duties until they choose to leave.
  9. The bolded is, verbatim, my complaint with the WSM (I have 2 -- 18 and 22). I just really hated cleaning that motherfucker and it seems to grow mold every single time I open it. Life has gotten hard with a 2 year old and I've come to value my time a bit more lately (worse now during Q4 -- I work in healthcare and I hate this time of year). I'm breaking out a pork butt and some steaks this weekend. We'll definitely see the utility of this bad boy pretty soon. Also, FWIW -- I "liked" or followed or whatever the RecTec fb page. Found a vet moving to Alaska and couldn't ship the smoker b/c it was too expensive. I ended up getting it for $800 plus a bunch of add-ons he initially purchased with it in Feb '19. The downside is that the warranty didn't transfer but I called RecTec customer service and they basically said they don't honor transferred warranties officially, but always work w/ the new owner as long as it's within warranty. As an example, I damaged my wifi antenna in transpo, called them up, and they sent out a new one, free of charge w/ 2 day shipping.
  10. I'm new to the pellet smoking game, as I've just picked up a RecTec. What are the thoughts on the best brand of pellets to purchase? I've read pretty bad things on Traeger due to a lawsuit.
  11. Just picked up a Rectec 700 bull to augment my dual WSMs. Any other pellet cookers out there? The appeal of the set it and forget it and monitoring from the app is what sold me. Still love my WSM, but it's hard to Q these days with a toddler
  12. Here to see the rear end of the 20 something girl
  13. Am I the only one of the belief that once you start using chapstick , you're destined to need it forever?
  14. Now you're confusing me. Upthread you mentioned to place insulation on the none AC side, then foam board, and leave the crawl space air gapped?
  15. It is not. Neither the garage or the attic space directly above is conditioned.
  16. I'm 6', 200#. Definitely not fitting.
  17. This seems counterintuitive to me. Are you saying I should put batt insulation above the garage space (nonAC) after sealing with foam board or above the office (AC) space and then foam board seal?
  18. I figured, but I cant access the back of the light in the crawl space. Maybe it says it on the inside housing?
  19. I'm leaning towards this. The only problem is there are some drip down areas where I think there might be electrical boxes or can lights, so things could get tricky there.
  20. I dont want to convert to complete spray foam insulation. Way too pricey and I dont think I would stay here long enough to make some money back. When I said foam insulation earlier, I meant foam board insulation.
  21. In doing various DIY project throughout my house, I've discovered cost-cutting/lazy work in certain areas. I've addressed quite a few of them and I'm finally at a point (climate wise) where I can comfortable address this one. There is a large attic space above my garage where the joists run across it into the house. The problem I discovered is that there is no air block/barrier that is separating the unconditioned (at times, superheated) attic space from the joists into the house, above my office and below my gameroom. It is of no coincidence that these are the absolute worst areas cooling/heating wise. Below are a few pictures, there are probably 20 joists (10 or so gaps) where all the constructure workers did was stuff about 2 feet of batts. Remove the batts, and that is what you see. The gaps vary of having some ductwork in/crossing them or, sometimes, absolutely nothing but a back wall. I figure I have 2 approaches, buy some blow in insulation and fill these large gaps with the product or purchase some 2" rigid foam board to seal up the gaps. Is any method better than the other R-value/efficiency-wise? Any other factors or options to consider?
  22. Basically a direct to consumer Invisalign. Had anyone had any experience with the company and the product?
