I think you’re referencing Panorama and, if so, wholeheartedly agree. We had a great lunch there and the views are fantastic. Random food item. Ducked into a place in Milano called Mamajuanas because it was late and close to where we were. Dominican/South American place. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve had. I was certainly not expecting that.

The Italy Thread
Wrapping up two weeks in Italy (fly out in the morning). It has been a busy couple of weeks. Started in Rome (Trastevere). Saw all the “major” stuff - Vatican City, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. it was busy obviously but thankfully not too hot yet. Next was Sorrento - probably the favorite of the youngers in our group. Charter boat to Capri (couldn’t do Blue Grotto as wave action made it so slow that we would have been waiting for hours). But we got to swim in a few spots and had a good lunch at Panorama on Capri. Also charter boat around to Amalfi and Positano. This was an (expensive) add on, but a lot of fun. Did Pompeii and Herculaneum from here. I liked this more than I thought I would. Again, thankfully not too hot. I can’t imagine doing that with July/August sun beating down on you. We did a quick spin through Naples so probably not representative, but based on our quick run-through, I liked it the least of the big cities. Next was Florence and we stayed right down town in the tourist area, but I thought it was great because it made everything easily walkable. Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, etc. One day train to Lucca and we grabbed bikes and rode to Pisa. This was a ton of fun. Nice bike path along the Arno for the most part. We returned on a more direct path. Cars were conscientious of the bikes. Day trip to Cinque Terre. This made for a long day but the area is beautiful. Would consider a night or two here to hike the trail between. Wrapping up in Milan. Definitely a different vibe here but I like it more than I thought I would. Staying near park where Castello is and that is great. Day trips to Lake Como (weather not great which put a damper on it) and Venice (squeezed it in). I was expecting worse from Venice, but we really buzzed through the St Marks area and then just meandered the streets away from there and we really enjoyed it. Amazing country to visit, and I feel like there’s so much more to see and do.

I caught the cancer
Yeah, unfortunately it’s hard to sugar-coat this one. When I walked into the room, the speculum that I recognized for ultrasounds during my wife’s pregnancies was there and I thought “nah, they have to have something else.” (Narrator: they don’t). They take twelve cores and evaluate each. Taking the cores is minor as by now they’ve hit you with the anesthetic. I’d liken it to being lightly snapped with a rubber band. It’s not fun, but get it done. As said in a few posts above, this is one you can get at early. Don’t put it off. And the Decipher test may not be offered by your urologist, but they’ll order if you ask. This will tell you how aggressive your lesion is and can help guide treatment. If it helps, I did NOT want radiation therapy unless absolutely necessary. Thankfully, my lesion was well contained in the prostate so surgery was easy choice. We “shopped” for a surgeon we felt good about and came highly recommended, with vast experience with the Da Vinci nerve-sparing procedure. Remember you can always add a dose of RT later if needed, but RT mutates things such that it makes subsequent nerve-sparing surgery extremely difficult if not impossible. I’m not an MD so take my opinion with the appropriate grain of salt, but thought I’d share a brief view of my thought process.

I caught the cancer
Awesome to hear! My first bloodwork check at three months came back undetectable as well. How are you doing on the recovery side? Particularly “control”? I’m pretty good for the most part but definitely prone to leakage when active. First time post surgery doing jumping jacks was hilarious. And then there are times I’ll just randomly leak. Those are frustrating to say the least.

Was given the nickname Looney Tunes as was an OG in a gang that included Gerardo, AC Sanchez and Malachi.

2021 UFC/MMA thread
What an event. Well worth the PPV buy. The fact that you had two former champs in Garbrandt and Figuereido leading off the early prelims was insane. Holloway and Gaethje. Dang. That spinning kick to break JGs nose obviously changed JGs plan. You could tell he couldn’t breathe and was trying his darndest to not let his nose get touched. Max looked fantastic and that finish? Unreal. Loved to see it, but hated to see JG face down on the mat for so long. Poatan is just a scary human being. Advising Herb to stand back then landing the KO right after was amazing. Is Charles done? Not that old but has a lot of mileage. He needs to rethink being able to pull guard on these dudes that are just so strong on the ground. Thought he had him twice though. Arman clearly won every minute in between though. Still, always love to watch Do Bronx fight. They need to match up Nickal with Khamzat to eliminate one of them from relevance. Hopefully Whitaker can do that to Khamzat first. I thought Jiri was going down and he came back and took out Rakic. Good on him. Probably matches up with Jamahal now I would think. 301 looks terrible so I bet they try to shoehorn Poatan on that card to try and save it. Probably not enough time though.

This was all I saw of this card but, yes, this kid was impressive. He looked so composed in the ring. Definitely one to watch. How that other dude didn’t go to sleep like 12 times in that fight is unreal. That’s a tough kid that was outclassed.

Tell Me About Washington
Yes, that was awful. First they have to find out you’re leaving via ESPN. And then because it was all BS. “I just got the opportunity 24 hours ago.” So you switching agents to Jimmy Sexton, interviewing with Bama while you’re in Houston prepping for the NCG and Saban waiting to announce his retirement until a couple of days after said NCG was all just coincidental stuff that happened? This was already done. Sexton just used the two days to get his other guys raises. Clearly Deboer wasn’t a Boy Scout as the “leave it better than you found it” didn’t enter the equation. Other than Penix, the NFL dudes on that roster were already there and your recruiting was, shall we say, lackluster. Literally signed zero in-state players. Really looking to setup those relationships for the long-term, eh coach? You slammed the door on Grubb ever getting a chance because he was gonna have the same message you did and no one in that locker room was going to buy it. (And the previous experiences promoting assistants has not gone well at UW historically). Just say thanks for selling out, I’ve enjoyed my time here, good luck and be out. When 25% of the guys show up and those that did are tweeting “crocodile tears” after, I’d say your message didn’t quite land. Look, I get it, there’s probably only 7 places that don’t lose their HC to other CFB opportunities (UT, Bama, UGa, LSU, Mich, Ohio State and USC - I would have included ND and OU but recent history suggests otherwise). But the manner in which it happened sucks. But I’m not bitter… 😂 The sad part for CFB is that given the timing, UW has to be hoping Fisch is going to gut his UA roster (particularly Fifita and TMac) after he comes. Which sucks for that squad. Wonder if UA gives Grubb a look?

Glad to see Colby lose. That guy is a turd and that was an awful showing. thankfully Tony didn’t win so he’d get another fight. Dana can’t possibly give him another, can he? The fact that Paddy couldn’t put him away and gassed out so quickly isn’t good. shavkhat is a problem. Can’t wait to see him in the upcoming 12-24 months. He almost looked like he had too much respect for Wonderboy and didn’t want to hurt him. Would love to see him end Colby’s career. Emmett’s KO was perhaps the cleanest, most devastating one punch KOs I’ve ever seen. Felt like you could see dude’s brain slam against his skull. Royval just doesn’t have athleticism to get out of control. looked like he had windows to explode and escape but couldn’t do it. Strickland - I like in other vid you can see him politely ask Gilbert’s kid to move out of the way. And then proceeds to go over the row to get at Dricus. Crazy.

So catheter is bad, but not the nightmare I was anticipating. The real nightmare is taking a dump with a catheter in….

I caught the cancer
Home from my radical prostatectomy via Da Vinci robotic surgery. Long day. Glad to have the surgery behind me. Surgeon said it went really well and the nerves were clean and able preserve a great deal. So very happy about that. Sore right now and full of air (as usual…), so that’s uncomfortable. This catheter is gonna be a problem… Thanks all for your support and willingness to share your experiences. Although I’m on the other side of this Sugar Bowl matchup (I think I found Hornfans prior to 2001 Holiday Bowl, made the various jumps and make the Surl a regular stop, although I don’t post much) this community is amazing.

No updates in a while so thought I’d check in to see how everyone is doing. We had a lot of encouraging updates the last round so hoping to read more of the same. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, so prep starts tomorrow.

I caught the cancer
This is consistent with what first surgeon I met with told me. Low dose of viagra for a year to help get things to normal. Anyone have Da Vinci single port (SP) robotic surgery? First surgeon said that’s all he does now. Second surgeon said it was complicated and stayed with multi-port XI system. First MDs recovery times, and complication rates were impressive (if accurate).
