Blackberry Smoke at HOB Houston on Friday night was tremendous. Charlie Starr is a way underappreciated musician.

Midday special. Buddy only had a couple hours to spare but luckily the fish cooperated with our 1-3pm window. Dodged a couple of storms but ended up a nice day on the water. And mega props to that Rooster. What a fucking beast. I bet those deckhands were pissed chasing that sucker for 4 hours.

2021 Poker: Raising Covid with the nuts!
Apparently this is the source. Poker game makes sense now. Disclaimer I have no idea if this is him or not but heard through a poker friend it was. https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2021/may/27/arkansan-charged-in-multimillion-dollar-covid/

Las Vegas go hard or go home thread
Just got back from Caesars. Palace Tower is by far the farthest from the main entrance so VERY long walks back from the Strip etc. However, it is merely feet from the Pool entrance. The line starts forming at 8:30am for the 9:00am opening. By 10:00am chairs will be hard to come by be prepared to empty your bank account if you are drinking. If you don't want to fight the morning crowd, it appeared as though if you waited until about 2 or so, the morning rush of people began to slowly filter out and chairs were easier to find. Hopefully they will have removed the ridiculous mask requirement when not in pool by then. And totally agree on the Strip clientele and smell. I love Vegas for the people watching but it was significantly different this year.

Neither, I was on my deck. They were trout. Never seen them frenzy like that, it was almost piranha-esq. Also hard to catch any when there is that much food in the water 😂

2021 Poker: Raising Covid with the nuts!
I played at Aria last Thursday and Sunday night. As of Sunday the plexi was still up but more and more twitter reports are showing them coming down so it shouldn't be long before its back to normal. I was shocked at how little table talk there was. It was the most boring 12 hours of poker I have ever played. The only words ever spoken are "once or twice?"

Fishing Megathread: Looking For Big Girls Who swallow
Oh trust me I rarely see the sun come up. I woke up to pee one morning about 5:30 and I figured the wind laid pretty good so I went out to see if anything was in the lights. Not much but a got damn dolphin scared the shit out of me. Came up for air right in my light coming towards me with that big as "splewww" out its blow hole. So freaking loud when there is not another sound in the air. Went back to bed but never really slept so went back down after dawn and caught that one on the first cast. I usually have two or three blowups at dusk but they are usually so small they can't get the top dog in their mouth. So you are right across from the fire house? That was a shock to see driving out the next morning.

No real big girls, 22" and 21" were the top two. Sporadic bite but a few more for the Memorial Day fish fry. Top water bite is back on in the canal at dusk and dawn.

Got the baby girl out yesterday for some Spring Break action in West Galveston Bay. She caught the biggest trout. Water temp was a nice 75 and much more bait in the shallows than the last couple of weeks.

The all Encompassing Oyster thread! Raw, roasted, grilled, baked or however you love them. Home Cookouts and beyond!
^^^ Seconded! A couple of places in Houston/Galveston try to replicate Dragos but none can seem to pull it off just right. Actually the one place that has come the closest is an Italian restaurant in Angleton named Giovannies. They only have them in season on Thursday nights until they run out. I think they may have changed ownership within the last couple of years though so they may not do it anymore.

Tiki Island Galveston. Although it is currently 32 degrees inside my house right now. Not exactly Island life.

2020-21 Winter weather; bring it on
Going on 13 hours without power here in Galveston but we’ve heard its due to a blown transformer. Got to say I never expected to live like this on the island. Piers and beams have their downsides I guess.

Jake?! You like Jake?! Jake’s my boy!!
And never realized that was Lenny playing in the background until about 20 years later. To many quotes to name an official “best” but before the dorks go into Jakes house. AMH rings the doorbell and then turns to them and say’s “and be polite to his parents”

Sports Card Collecting
- Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, and Other Good Stuff
The Steel Woods co-founder/guitarman passed away yesterday. Really sucks. They really had something together. Their first two albums were great. I would think they were probably making some new music during the pandemic too. Cause of death was not released. I think I posted a couple of their covers in the Covers thread.- Sports Card Collecting
It makes me sick thinking about it but that fucking Darren Rovell tweets a new auction record it seems like everyday to remind me but I HAD 3 of these. Sophomore in high school I would buy a pack of these twice a week or so. Was more into baseball cards but these came out and since I was playing basketball thought it would be cool to have. Probably ended up with 3 or 4 complete sets. After he retired and I was a few years out of college with not much money to speak of I figured they were reaching peak value. Sold all three for $500/piece. Pretty good return for maybe a $50 investment . They are now routinely going for $200k, $300k, $400k in auctions. Of course those prices are for grades of 10 but I no doubt had at least 8's. I had them in sleeves at least a year or two after purchase and then put into screw down cases once they started getting valuable. Still got all the rest of the cards though 😂 if anyone wants an Hakeem, Barkley or Bird. https://www.barrons.com/articles/michael-jordan-rookie-trading-card-sells-for-a-record-420-000-01598903722- Butter is better [Seed oil bad]
But Jack in the Box tacos are still okay for you, right?- Butter is better [Seed oil bad]
So the "Chick-fil-A is better for you because they use peanut oil" is some more bullshit?- Tom Girardi: The "Erin Brockovich" lawyer, his "Beverly Hills Housewife" wife, and the clients that he stole from
