Breaking that low - probably not a “cotex forgot to ease the runner” situation. Any report on the cause? Backstay or something fail?

I was guessing the price for some cheap middle east knock-off shit, not American made. For some quality American made carbon work, 4-6 sounds about right.
  3. I’ve got this weird feeling - like if I went - it could go one of two ways: would I be the lawyer Character from fear and loathing in Las Vegas, or the Toby McGuire hitchhiker? damn this is intriguing.

So what is that? 100k for a new stick and that again for some sails? does the manufacturer ever cut you a break if it’s a defective (whatever part) or - shit happens - pay up? How far out/down? whats their plan? Rig up something and downwind it wherever, or locate some fuel and slow motor?

And Scarface gon’ run for city council. https://theboxhouston.com/9836602/scarface-announces-run-for-houston-city-council/
  6. I’ll spot you that my memories of that time are imperfect, but I was dating my now wife in 2001, which means many of the shenanigans had curtailed and I was focused on grad school. i would wager that KL on the drag was open by 12/31/00.
  7. I think I would have a lifelong hatred for the Germans and Japanese if I had fought through this war.
  8. I got you. can you leave work on Thursday at 5, go to the District to drink tequila with nurses, break up a fight between your boss and Leslie, go to kerbey lane on the drag, watch your boss puke in your truck, make out with a nurse on the bench outside while you wait for your table, eat, drive your boss home at reata on 183 and then take the nurse home in south Austin for fun and games? No, you cannot. too Much fucking traffic. It’s not the same. Trust me.
  9. Just wait boys. #nextyear.
  10. /csb I met shelby’s 7th wife “cleo.”

How is the keel secured? Slide it in the hole and then bolt some plate to the top of it, or does the fin go in top down and then bolt bulb on? do you have to fair it every time or does it just fit really well? When’s the first race?

You're a patient dude. I would be doing more than tracking the shipper online. The boat looks perfect. How long until assembly?

I like that one poor bastard - the last one on port tack right next to the mark. There’s nothing more fun than working your ass off for the entire beat, and then ducking the entire fleet because ... It’s better in dinghies because you can just bumper boat your way in there and pray. These 52’s don’t bumper boat as well. g650, where’s your new ride?
  14. Damn, first you misread my post, and then you call out Grenada Tech. This cannot stand. I said "high wealth - trust and tax planned - client" meaning someone that was high wealth, and had their shit PLANNED. I did not intend to discuss planning, but it is definitely cleaner than probate, but where's the fun in a desk-jockey practice. Question, for those of us that went to Grenada Tech, how do you exclude the under 10MM NW clients from your practice? TwiceHorn wants to know too, I"m sure.
  15. Disagree in part. Not all probate is equal. There's the high wealth - trust and tax planned - client and that work is pretty clean and lucrative. Then there's the "I want daddy's bass boat" crowd that will make you scratch your head. I think you inadvertently over-generalized and I just thought I should point it out. Carry on now.

I’ve read some accounts of the event and I think it was a combination of ignorance and hubris. they didnt believe this type of reactor could/would blow like that, at least without warning. The graphite on the ground with the round - cylinder shaped orifice was a damper for the rods/reaction. The fact that it was on the ground was the nuclear equivalent to finding your intel processor laying on the ground 10 feet from your computer. It should alarm you and clearly it’s bad broken, but it’s so far from the norm that it doesn’t register - the whole fucking thing blew up. as I understand it there were 4 reactors in line there and we’re lucky only 1 went. I read that the first public knowledge of an event was at a Swedish reactor where all the alarms went off. The engineers all freaked out thinking they had a problem - they didn’t - it was radiation from blown dust all the way from fucking Ukraine. im glad this story is being told.
  17. Driving around College Station this weekend my wife and i noted a lot of road repairs, and the general appearance of the campus. My six year old son in the backseat was listening to all of this and he blurted out "it looks like the prison from Despicable Me."
  18. I’ve got an idea to make money. buy maroon things - cars, clothes, whatevs, and bring them here to sell. surely the premium will justify the effort. What do you call that? Arbitrage? Profit.
  19. Texas Science Olympiad - I’m in the heart of darkness this weekend. they just took the whole fake army out for a march-around. The band, the dog, the swords, the hairy women with deep voices, the whole shebang. ive never been to North Korea but I imagine it is like this, with better women.
  20. 10 - Marijuana legal nationwide, recreational. 20 - Human's live, continuously, on a different planet/moon. 30 - US restarts Israel/Palestinian peace process, with a "real chance at success this time."
  21. I’ve been rolling to sunny isles and Bal Harbour. What am I missing?
  22. Thanks for that clarification. It really added meaning.
  23. After an especially large clusterfuck at FLL TSA, I saw a man of latin heritage stop, kneel, cross himself and pray. It took a toll on me too, but I had a good laugh at that poor bastard. Idiots trying to get through TSA caused him to question his faith.
  24. Colin Guinn and Christi Woods are Texans. Colin is from Corpus, I don't know where Christi is from but I think I would like to go there. https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/the-amazing-race-colin-guinn-christie-woods-zen-not-intense/
  25. Do you even usufruct, bro?
