  1. Yes. This needs to be reposted from time to time. I think I might've been at that game. I had never heard this story but it's outstanding, especially with the quotes from Texas coaches and players admitting they got duped by it and the fact that Leach never knew how effective it had actually been until the guy wrote the story about it years later.
  2. My favorite UT receiver of all-time. Didn't know he knew much about basketball but I'll allow it.
  3. Jesus. The $200 Ring camera above my garage has better sound quality than this.
  4. In no way whatsoever does that support your statement that he was choking her when they got there. "Incident" is a general term here and "in progress" referes to when the call was made.
  5. That's some karma... A guy named Horn Dog all worried about who his promiscuous daughter is bringing into the house.
  6. As a father of teenage boys, many of your daughters sound like sluts.
  7. Doesn't the charge specify that it was assault of a "family member"? Why would it say that if it was the daughter's boyfriend?
  8. Not really. A better example would be two different schools under the UT System. Both are run by the same Board of Regents but nobody at UTSA answers to Jay Hartzell or roots for the Horns In the same sense, the USMC is not part of the Navy. The Dept of the Navy and the Navy are not the same entity. It's one Department that oversees two separate services, one of which happens to share a name with it. The Marine officers that come out of the Academy are fairly few, not a significant number. The majority of the Marine Corps doesn't give a shit about one school that supplies a small percentage of its officers. Aggy commissions a few Marines every year too and ain't no way the others would root for them because of that. It's a just good-natured interservice rivalry and the USNA is generally considered Navy despite the few Marines that come out of it.
  9. If I can’t get three full days inside the park it’s not worth going to Big Bend. It’s not just the size of the park, it’s how far it is from all the other little towns that the wives want to spend time in, like Marfa, Alpine, and Fort Davis. Visiting BB while you happen to be in Marfa is kind of like visiting Austin for a day when you happen to be in Houston. But if you only have one day, I also like South Rim more than Emory Peak. Don’t be deceived by the mileage, people do it in one day all the time but it’s slow walking and it’s going to take longer than you think.
  10. Nothing weird about it. Marines hate the Navy. Marines hate the Army. Army and Navy hate the Marines. Don’t overthink it, just your average healthy interservice rivalry. And yes Marines come out of the Naval Academy, that doesn’t mean they have to love the Navy. The ones that went to school there will root for Navy, the rest don’t really give a shit . And yes the Marine Corps is under the Department of the Navy. That’s administrative bullshit that Marines don’t really care about. Think of it like rooting against Texas A&M even though we’re both from Texas.
  11. Who gives a shit? Semper Fi.
  12. Yeah and not just the fans either.
  13. You could just as easily say the teams we beat by a touchdown or less fucked themselves out of those games. The "what could've been" game works both ways. A 10 win season was within our grasp... a 6 win season was too.
  14. Wing restaurants are stupid. Ordinary fried chicken in full-sized pieces is better than wings slathered in buffalo honey sriracha peach goat jizz or whatever the fuck they put on them. For Worthy, stay if you're bought in, leave if you aren't. Same for anybody.

I just signed up my older son and myself for a 6-day mountain biking trip across the Highlands this summer. Aberdeen to Ardnamurchan. I've had my eye on the trip for a few years and was totally stoked when he asked if he could come with me for his HS graduation gift.
  16. That was 25 and 45 years ago. You might as well be telling the troops in urban Ukraine what strategy was working well in the jungles of Vietnam.
  17. Well that’s what Quinn allegedly told his dad who allegedly to the ex boyfriend of some anonymous internet board asshole… so yeah… I think he’s pretty serious. Seems legit.
  18. My grandad had a similar story from Iwo Jima.
  19. @Paco was at Futenma while I was up at Camp Hansen. Did we all get drunk inside the walk-in freezer of the Futenma PX together?
  20. Terminal W.
  21. You might be taking this message board thing a little too seriously. Your complaints aren’t wrong but you’re expecting a bit much from this fairly insignificant political board within a football fan site which also has a section called “I’d Pee in Her Butt” which probably gets more traffic than this particular board.
  22. I bought a Lexus LX470 a couple years ago with 180k on it. It's got 260k on it now. I don't worry about major problems much but at that age you start running into more small things that just can't last as long as an engine. Hoses, alternator, various pumps, etc... I've had to take it in a couple times for stuff like that and for a once-every-90k timing belt, but all the big ticket items are still sound. I own a Tacoma that's also over 250k and it's a similar story. I'm planning on my kids driving those two for years to come. If you are averse to taking it to the shop now and then I'd stay around 100k or less. Age in years might be more relevant than actual miles at some point.
