I tried the nee Pinkerton’s location tonight. Popped in a for a beer and a beef ring. I’ll tread lightly here because Grant is a native Houstonian and Texas Ex. I’d call the beef rings a miss. I was hoping for something like 90% as good as Black’s. I wouldn’t dream he could approach City Market beef rings. Greasy, grain wasn’t right, and skin wasn’t the texture. Maybe they’re working out the kinks? I believe it’s day 2 of serving the rings and it’s a new location. Beautiful space. They did an amazing job with the old 59 Diner. The joint was jumping on a Tuesday. He’s going to print money with that location. I couldn’t be happier for him, but I’ll stick to ribs, duck jamablaya, boudin, and hanging out at the bar.
I mostly agree, but Maekar should have looked at his sons and decided to keep Egg. Son 1 is drunken coward. Son 2 is a bully. Son 3 is bookish and best suited to be a maester. Son 4, Egg seems bright and brave. I hindsight, Egg is his obvious heir. Perhaps, he didn’t spend enough time with his sons to come to this realization until it was too late.
They should have moved a couple seconds at the deadline for a PG. Tyus Jones fit every definition of a buyout candidate before the Magic were able to get 2 second round picks for him. I think Looney can beg his way off the Pelicans, but he won’t play for another team until March 1. Teams usually draw out the buy out market until the last second. I can’t think of any big names that might come available. Teams are wising up and not letting veterans walk for nothing.
I think they keep Elko as long as the ESPN talking heads keep repeating he’s a good coach and a defensive genius. Dumb ass McAfee is especially fond of Elko. aggys can tolerate a lot especially when they believe their coach is the smartest guy in the room. Their next move will be a predictable overcorrection. I’m guessing Aaron Glenn on a steep discount/short term deal with capital focused on NIL.
The MAC had to get to even number, but they should have taken a NE school. Maybe wait out Villanova for football only? I don’t think the travel is a huge deal for Sac State. They were flying all over the country in their previous conference too. That said, isn’t student fees to subsidize football is shitty behavior from an institution. But almost everybody outside of the elites does it.
I think you’re missing the point. What makes Dunk a legend is his loyalty, the quality of his character in a world of evil men, and his heart/toughness. Plenty of better swordsmen in The White Book. And that’s what makes him interesting. That said, in the book he holds his own against Aerion, and continues to improve over the 3 novellas. I’m sure he’ll follow that trajectory on the show.
And there it is. Joffrey said Dunk must have been a “great man”. Not a great knight, a great warrior, or even a great swordsman. Dunk is good and noble and it serves him well.
While the 9 win incentive is funny, the raises assume the market won’t correct itself. Spending money on the HC or NIL will test the market. Tech is the current test subject.
Matt Thomas is convinced it wasn’t KD. Granted he’s the radio voice of the Rockets and could be covering, but the guy has a very dark sense of humor and loves stories like this.
Some thoughts; All of the Philly guys are friends and intermarried. They finally figured out NYC was fucking with them since the Bruno murder and they shut them out. So there’s family relations + NYC hatred fueling their loyalty. Gotti had a lot of problems, but his brother Gene and Quack Quack getting caught up in a heroin conspiracy was the gut shot. He had loyal people around him that would have done 100 years for him, but he had to expand the circle to kill Big Paul. He didn’t know Sammy The Bull previously to the Big Paul conspiracy, and Sammy had done zero jail time before his 1990 indictment. Many people think Gene was the smartest Gotti. Very low profile, but he did about 3 decades inside because John ordered his crew not to take pleas. There’s some thought he’s the current boss. Gene and Joe Watts probably would have been sentence to 10ish years if they took pleas. So his key people are probably on the street when he’s going away in the early/mid 90s.
I commented on it previously. Not putting drug or murder charges on Merlino was a major failure by the FBI. Imagine getting Gotti on gambling, 10 year sentence, and then throwing yourself a party 30 years later. We shouldn’t be surprised. Rudy was a camera loving whore for decades and decades. At least he got 100 year sentences on the Commission. Everybody living involved in the nothing burger Henry Hill cooperation is still doing interviews. The Toronto doc was interesting, but all over the place. The Rizzutos/LCN overtaking the Calabrians in Toronto is a fascinating story. Hopefully somebody gets a second bite at the apple.
