  1. Good correction. A younger generation needs their voices to be the loudest and most consistently heard.
  2. Many things will come to light and TFG will not suffer one single ounce of repercussions. Seeing this guy still alive and kicking while Dan McQuade, a writer and founder of my favorite website, Defector, passes from cancer at age 43, just isn’t fair. A great human being leaves behind his wife and two year old son and meanwhile TFG is apparently posting some racist AI stuff about the Obamas. What a timeline this has turned out to be.
  3. Is she beautiful? No doubt. She's highly intelligent though, just like Congresswoman Omar. The women in Congress are going to have to do the leading because the men aren't doing it.
  4. Wish Hornfischer were still around. What a talented writer who could weave quite the story from what actually transpired. Fiction is good to read right now and obviously is a welcome respite for the mind. I have been reading some historical fiction recommendations I got from folks who live in on Kiritimati in Kiribati. They are more geared to South Pacific countries and they thought the books would help me understand the people in those places better once I get there as it’s places they lived at and enjoyed.
  5. This is a book recommendation I’d like to make. It is not inherently about World War II, but what really sticks with me about this is that it is a fascinating look into the German/Prussian way of war. I will maintain that Germany did not just up and decide after the conclusion of WWI (and the humiliating terms it accepted) that it would be the monster it was when the Nazis came to power. It took decades of their way of war to get there along with a bunch of fanatical nut jobs to get there. I read through this astoundingly good book and see all of the warning signs about how Germany waged war, especially the colonial ones. It was the same from the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War straight through to the end of Hitler in 1945. I wish I had the time to do a better study of all of this as it would be interesting to connect some dots on this one. Even their fellow colonial powers looked at them as being exceptionally brutal. I won’t say too much more than if you want to deep dive into what the German mindset was and became it all started in the 1870’s. The Nazis and the people in the army learned from those who came before them and they took those lessons to the extremes of the Holocaust.
  6. When you reach a certain stage in life you just quit caring what anyone thinks. He has reached that stage where he will say exactly what he thinks and now we’ll see if Cougar High gets some money together for the basketball team. No one else in that athletic program deserves it more than the basketball team. People can dislike Sampson, but his guys play hard on both ends and no one looks forward to playing against them. He’s going to bat for his guys and I think they’ll respond positively to it.
  7. Next up is Cougar High. Would it shock me if BYU finally displayed something resembling a passing interest in defense on their home court? No and it’s because of they don’t win this one, well, they could have a slide that ends with them as one of those 11 seeds in the play-in game. I would expect Kelvin Sampson to play this one up to his guys as “we can barely compensate you while these frauds are paying them like NBA players just to be mediocre!” You know his guys are going to know this before tip-off. Am I rooting for the slide to continue? Absolutely. So thanks Okie State for helping to push them that direction.
  8. Ugly loss for the Zags to Portland, but I guess if you can go 15 years without losing against a team with a losing record then it’s understandable that the streak eventually had to end. Portland’s coach was apparently injured and used a knee caddy to get around during the game.
  9. I am going to put it at less than 10 percent, if that.
  10. I feel somewhat similar sentiments. The things I feel compelled to pursue and do are outside of the US so leaving for me came about as a plan before TFG got another shot at the big boy chair. I do feel that there are millions upon millions of Americans who either do not want to leave or do not have the ability to do so that are just stuck for lack of a better term. For those folks this is home and they should not have to deal with a regime hellbent on ruining their lives as well as the lives of those they love and care about. For me personally home is wherever I lay my head down to sleep at. The where doesn’t matter too much to me as life is really just one adventure after another until there are no more left. I’m not trying to wax poetic, but I’m just a traveler passing through. That’s not for everyone and I do find that taking a stand at this point in American history against fascism to be an honorable and correct one. I think of things like this. I read the words of someone in government in Papua New Guinea recently. They have had massive upheaval again and again in society there. They have a partially functioning power grid that does not cover the entire country, not even close. Crime in the capital is rampant. However the person who wrote the message I read is not looking for a way out. To them it is HOME. They want to fight for their home and way of life same as someone here in the US who has far more materially to lose than the average person from PNG does.
  11. I love the commentariat on Defector for stuff like this about Harden.
  12. Can there just be one world sports association that isn’t nakedly corrupt?
  13. I have a cousin who played football for Round Rock in the early 90’s. His last game in the playoffs they go up 14-0, but lose the game 55-14. Granted this was to Temple when they won state in 1992. His youngest daughter is now on the wrestling team for The Rock. If she’s as scrappy as her dad was as a 5’11” 180 starting DE then she’s probably pretty good.
  14. I like the district Lampasas is in. Also there are only a handful of schools who could do this, but is there another school besides Lampasas that has at onetime or another been in every region? We are more/less at that point geographically where it makes sense to have the Badgers in any region. I just am drawing a blank on any other school that has done the same thing.
  15. I’ve thought that Anthony should just petition to play in New Mexico, but the travel probably would be my CB easier on them there either.
  16. Luka is nothing special. Anyone can put up a 26 point first half triple double. Who wants to give up more than Street Clothes and a 1st for that? -Niko, probably
  17. These are some random thoughts. I bought some headphones a couple of days ago. I never wanted to go this route because I like being able to listen to folks, but I have reached a point where I cannot listen to folks around me anymore. People are just morons at times to put it bluntly. I spent my day reading and doing classwork while listening to music. I guess I reached the point where I just want to be left alone on my days off. The headphones really helped today.
  18. No kids here too. I always said that if I ever do have a child that I would not raise them in the US. I would want to take them to live in different parts of the world to get a better appreciation for the world as a whole. Other than doing that I'm okay if I do not have one. I have a niece and nephew and they're enough for me.
  19. What is the total number of teams that OKC’s original Big3 have played for? Just incredible how none of the three are ever really happy for long and wind up elsewhere.
  20. Schroeder is so much better in international play. That guy is going to have a shot to be in the Hall of Fame based on his play for the German national team. His game is good, but it does not translate as well to the NBA.
  21. I met one of the women that’s in it last year around this time. She was here to film parts of it. She was really sweet and it was her son’s first time in Hawai’i. Pretty cool story of how she got into acting back home in New Zealand as a teenager. Not exactly my kind of film I normally want to see, but I’ll watch it when I have time just to see her parts in it.
  22. Roth is the best. This guy will write something fun this week after Defector took a week off to honor the passing of Dan McQuade. Roth writes about these people better than anyone else in America. Money well spent each month for the Defector subscription.
