Show me your old Tacos (4Runner, FJ, Landcruiser, bronco etc)
Replaced it with a 2019 version of the same thing. I wanted to get another manual transmission Taco before Toyota discontinues them forever. Long trips in the '93 had become a bit of a beating.

It's a big wonderful world out there Mr. Fuck. I drive about 40 minutes to get to Wicks. He is a transplant from Austin, if that helps. For Dallas, I would probably look at Dan McCarthy, but I have no personal experience with him. http://www.dallasguitarrepair.com

Wicks Guitar in FW is my go to guy. I have not used them, but hear great stuff about Lambs as well. They are an authorized repair and service center for Fender/Taylor/Gibson... https://lambsmusic.com

Agree with the above, window shop with him at a GC and see if there is a style he likes. Is a Tele the tone and look he is wanting? A squire HSS strat would cover a lot of ground in the $400 range. Epiphone Les Paul or SG also fall in that price zone. Kids at my son's music lesson class also seem to gravitate to Schecter. If he likes it, he will definitely play it more. For amps: Boss Katana-50, Roland Cube or a Fender Mustang. Any good modeling amp will let him play around with clean and dirty tones to find his style.

That experience was totally worth it for the story alone. Much better than having a vague recollection of noodling around for 20 minutes, deciding the SG wasn't your thing and putting it back up on the wall.

Rumored for years, looks like GC is finally filing for Chapter 11. I know they get a bad rap, but I enjoy popping in from time to time. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-13/guitar-center-is-said-to-prep-bankruptcy-with-creditor-support

I had a Zenith Rainbow Flyback for a number of years. It was crazy accurate and super comfortable on the SS bracelet. I never had reliability issues with it. The 36,000 vph is kinda cool to see in action. Some of the older Zenith's will maintain their value, but I agree that if you are looking to flip it later, used Speedmaster is always a strong choice.

That butterscotch Tele bass is my jam. We are looking at homes right now and the guitar staging is definitely a thing. Usually it's just an acoustic in the corner. You have it dialed up to 11. Also, I've been there on having just one square left on the Rubik's cube. I stopped and claimed a "close enough" victory too.

If it’s climate controlled storage, I think it would be just fine. Temperature and humidity will be maintained within a reasonable range. Your wife should be fine there while you keep the amps and guitars at the apartment.

Bluesman Vintage Deville 2T bass with Lollar Thunderbirds. https://www.bluesmanvintage.com Boutique builder, but unlike Nash he doesn't just assemble Allparts guitars and call it a day. He actually makes necks and bodies on site and will pretty much build whatever you want.

I don't mind a light relic. They look great and it would take the pressure off of me when I eventually put the first ding or two on it. This Nash is pushing it a bit too far IMHO.

Kudos to FedEx. Tuesday arrival was changed to Monday. Then, I got a notification that it was out for delivery today. Pictures washout the color, but it is a nice faded sonic blue. Pickup cover has already been removed. It looks great, but I hate trying to play around it. For being 7 years old, there is not a mark on it anywhere. The previous owner removed the foam mute, so I stuffed a bit under the bridge cover, I wasn't sure that I would be a fan, but it sounds pretty fantastic.
