2019-2020 NBA Season Thread
I know this is the unpopular take, but this is me. In the 2020 world of media all around us...there is literally no escape from politics even if the NBA doesn’t boycott a game. I get what they’re doing and am fine with it, but I’m not sure what impact it will ultimately have other than get some people on Twitter to write some heartfelt supportive tweets.

Outer Banks was fun. Only part that kept bugging me was the lack of cell phone use.

2020 Astros Season Thread
I’m with you on this, and the hypocrisy of the rest of baseball (media, players, and fans) have made it difficult to enjoy the rest of the game like I normally do. Mookie Betts made a great play the other night that everyone was raving about. I couldn’t even enjoy it as a baseball fan...not because of some woke COVId reason, just because everything baseball is annoying me. I feel like it may not feel right again until this “era” ends, which blows because I still love Altuve, Bregman, etc. and want them to succeed more than anything. But all the shit around them makes it tough. I’m hoping it all feels right again when I can go see a game at MMP.

2020 MLB thread
I wonder how everyone would be reacting if he had hit Bregman in the head? It was probably less than 5 inches from his head.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
This seems to be the logical way to do it but I think political interests will get in the way. Shocker.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Houston 7-day average is down 30% from 2 weeks ago. Seems like around now should be the peak for hospitalizations?

It’s hard to get mad at logic and reasoning when the entire plot lacks those things

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
A couple of good days in a row in Houston on case counts (204 and 412). 7-day average continues to inch back down...hopefully that trend continues. That said, reporting inconsistencies are becoming apparent so it's hard to get too excited yet.

Not a good day for Houston...also not surprising given it's a Tuesday https://twitter.com/HoustonHealth/status/1280602584982728705?s=20

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Given the many sources / moving parts of reporting, testing, etc....I don't know how anyone can confidently know. My gut is that it's a combination of people taking this more seriously and the virus spread just working its way through the community.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Not sure about Austin but Houston has been slowly declining since the mid-June peak (6/19-6/24). Seems to be spreading to smaller counties, though, which is pushing the state-wide numbers up.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
From what I understand - Since younger people are getting it, hospitalization stays are shorter and it’s less likely an infection will result in death. There are also reports that the virus is less deadly than it used to be. Personally I think the unknown long term health effects of the virus is the more concerning threat than death at this point.

Another drop from prior week. 7 day average dropping. Encouraging.

832 in Harris County today. 16% drop from last Wednesday. Not as good as yesterday but at least it's going in the right direction.

My comment wasn't meant to be a jab at you - more a jab at our society as a whole.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
I read somewhere that the state number is a day old, which could be why Tuesdays are so high since some counties don't report on Sunday.

Yeah that tells a different story. I don't know. I guess pick whatever fits your narrative just like every other 2020 conversation?

That's actually trending down, too. For the sake of transparency, I'm just going off the @HoustonHealth twitter account for the Houston Health Department (www.houstonhealth.org). I'm not going to act like their data is the best, but it seems to be a logical source to rely on. Their 7-day average has been flat/declining since Friday.- COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Yeah, sucks. At least we have some good trajectory in Houston. Hopefully we'll see it through the rest of the state soon.- COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Thanks. Looks like there was a decline starting before today. Makes it appear even worse in smaller counties since Harris had such a big drop. - COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
