COVID-19 vaccine discussion
Those who were able to make an appointment for vaccines the other day, everyone's appointment time was 2pm.. This obviously resulted in everyone showing up at 2, leaving hundreds of old people to stand around outside for several hours. Good job, good work Austin.

COVID-19 vaccine discussion
Guess I should have kept checking. Ill try in the mornings this week. Not sure if it matters but I just checked my confirmation text and I got them signed up around 12:45pm. My guess is it'll be a weekly thing, so if it's full tomorrow, I'd bet Mondays are the days that they open the week's sign up

COVID-19 vaccine discussion
Whole bunch of slots opened up this morning at the Alamo dome through SAs website. Was able to sign my mom and in-laws up for a jab. It was either an error and I'll get an "oops sorry" email or it'll be great.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
If five minutes on the front porch is accurate, you're being overly cautious. But it's not a bad thing. And as for your cartographer, contacts of contacts typically won't need to quarantine.

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
There are others who are more in tune with this than me, but my interpretation of it is that it depends on the TEA. If the TEA allows our remote days to count as full days, we'll go remote. If they don't, I predict another week off and days tacked on to the end of the year.

Tom "the turtle" Herman [Lame Duck or greatest 5d chess player ever?]
"1-0 Culture"? He started his first two years here 0-1. I'm no lawyer, but doesn't that void the contract?

ABQ is closer to El Paso than Austin/ San Antonio. Maybe they're getting some overflow there?

DT: COVID-19 - Let's talk about Fat fucks
This is a global virus that's affecting different regions at different times. Why should we have a singular national response to this? There should be an appropriate course of action when cities and zip codes hit certain levels. Austin TX shouldn't have had the same response as NYC in March at the same time.

AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18
Because TEA My understanding, which is limited, is that they can get a one week waiver without having to add on to the school year. Any longer than that and you have to add time to your day or finish later.

COVID-19 2nd wave - Texas only - Stats and such
Take it for what it's worth... There's a screenshot of a text exchange floating around the facebooks between a user and Austin Public Health confirming that patients transferred into Austin hospitals from outside the area do count against our numbers.

Running thread of the disaster that is the new school year
Yeah, it shouldn't surprise anyone that school goes virtual from Thanksgiving to new years. We already know how to do it, sorta.
