¡Snek!
I guess there is a slightly less than zero chance that it is a venomous snake from Australia.

¡Snek!
Can't see the markings in the photo. Either a Dekay's Brown or a Rough Earth Brown. If there are noticeable markings, including a slightly darker top of the head, it's a DeKay's.

If octopuses eat other octopuses, it seems silly that I shouldn't.

Thinking about eating a plate of barbecue with that shirt Rogen is wearing gives me anxiety.

Maple Syrup
I didn't get the understanding the @Captain Ron was going to be putting any maple syrup in the 55 gallon drum. I thought it was being used for fire.

Texas BBQ
I have it jotted down at home, but here are the basics: 3 parts water to 1 part ketchup; roughly chopped onion; some beef bullion; kosher salt and 16 mesh black pepper to taste. Bring to boil, boil to reduce to about half. Check salt and pepper seasonings, I tend to lean heavily on black pepper. Simmer for a while longer.

LM beef rib is definitely the best thing on the menu and used to be relatively uncommon at other places. Beef ribs are on menus all over the place now, so not such a special item. I don't go out of my way to eat at LM, but if I'm in Taylor around lunch time I usually try to stop. LM and Smitty's are my two favorite old school barbecue locations for the history and vibe, unfortunately not for the barbecue. On a side note, I cook up a batch of LM/John Mueller barbecue dipping sauce when I make beef ribs at home.

College Saving, TTP and 529
Question to those who's kids are in college or beyond - how do you deal with the taxes? The 1099-Q for 529 distributions and the 1098-T for tuition are both in my daughter's name. We claim her as a dependent on our taxes, but it only amounts to a $500 credit. As a dependent, I believe we're allowed to run both the 1099-Q and 1098-T through our tax return. I'm not sure what the tax consequences are either way. When I ran both through her tax return, she loses about $200 in refund (just the 1099-Q on hers is another $225 drop, leaving her paying $99). I'm going to toy around with adding the 1099-Q and 1098-T to ours to see what difference it makes. Just wondering what others are doing.

Hernia?
Reducible hernia or irreducible and surgery? Surgery wasn't that bad and I was silly for waiting 5 years to get it. Either way, good luck.

Texas BBQ
Hit Stiles Switch in Cedar Park on the way back from a hike at the lake this morning. Moist brisket, pork ribs, pimento cheese sausage, Brussel sprouts, and slaw. Everything was great. While InterStellar is better, top to bottom, its nice to have a good barbecue joint without a hour long line.
