  1. $2000 is not much for a 2006 4Runner, although it likely has plenty of issues to deal with. If it starts and runs, I would drive it around to make sure there are no obvious issue with the transmission or drivetrain. Some issues come with all cars - tires. Some issues can be dealt with or lived with - a/c.
  2. While reading the thread yesterday afternoon, I noticed the date - January 12. I had my last drink 7 years ago on January 12. I say it every year. I count this thread and the people participating as the primary reason I determined to stop drinking. I knew I was drinking way too much for a while. I read the thread on TOS from beginning to end one afternoon (probably with a drink in my hand). I read every post in this thread, and still do. This is the reason I bump the thread if it gets too far down. I know people read it that need to read it. I attempted to moderate my drinking first. The moderation plan started with 2 months of not drinking which I was able to accomplish. After those two months I had a plan of how many drinks I could have and how many days I could have a drink. I even made a spreadsheet. First day after the dry two months I had a drink. I actually did pretty well. Went out for a nice dinner with my wife and didn't order any alcohol. Got home to watch a movie and I poured a little glass of Blantons - probably a finger or two more than an a serving, but that is the only drink I had that night. The next day no drinking. The next day, though . . . 45 days straight of drinking (not following the spreadsheet). On January 12th, I drank too much and drank all day. The next day I decided the energy and failed effort I put into moderation would be better directed at not drinking at all. I knew I could stop drinking for a given period of time, I'd did 2 months without a drink just a few months before. I didn't know if I could keep from taking another drink ever. I still don't know. What I do know is where that first drink will lead and I don't want that. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks for bumping the thread @Sbbruin and congrats on the 90 days. I remember you mentioned the possibility of quitting a while back. Keep it up.
  4. Blue Moon was a decent bite in 2017. It's in the middle of nowhere and shut down for a while a few years ago because road construction in the area. Nice folks.
  5. Clemson is only 30 miles from Greenville.
  6. Duck turnovers sound delicious.
  7. Dik Dik Muntjac don't take shit of nobody.
  8. You're further along that I ever got. I didn't remember having sourdough starter until this thread bump. My daughter is planning on getting some starter from a friend to start making bread. I'm glad you brought the thread to the top. Good luck with your bread.
  9. And it wouldn't be very comfortable wedged in between Farley and Jack Black. I'd pick either 2 or 7. On a 14 hour flight, I don't care who is sitting next to me - I'm sitting on the aisle.
  10. I'm working that into a brief.
  11. Leftover fajitas and jalapeño slaw for lunch.
  12. Wow. I'm not arguing about climate change. If I walk outside and it's a nice day, I appreciate the nice day.
  13. If you didn't know what day of the year it is, would you like the weather? I don't like Texas hot summers, I don't like cold and drizzle, don't mind cold, don't mind rain . . . I'll take a 75 to 80 degree day anytime.
  14. It seems like the Star Wars universe could keep him busy for a while. The Percy Jackson stuff might be good as well - learning a little about Greek myths wouldn't be a bad side benefit. Agree with the above - Wednesday, Lost in Space, and the various sitcoms. I wouldn't necessarily binge everything. I personally like to spread things out. I would pick a few different things and bounce back and forth.
  15. Listened to Gervais on the SmartLess podcast this week. He spent a fair amount of time explaining what he does to be relatable to the audience and why he often comes off as overly cocky. It puts a lot of his onstage persona in perspective. He's also funny as shit.
  16. Funniest line I've read in a while.
  17. We have an Amazon Fire stick with all of our streaming apps. It works well for us, but the in-laws have a difficult time with it. The UI has too many options of things to click. Instead of pulling up YTTV and watching Fox, they click a Fox window and download some new app. I always have to go back and delete stupid apps once they leave. This discussion shows that there would be a market for something really simple for the olds to watch TV. The TV version of the jitterbug phone.
  18. What the fuck? I want to know who won.
  19. That's been my experience as well. Bill Dumas didn't stay all that long after John passed and that made a difference as well.
