In theory, we can just steal the portal work the future coach has been doing for their current school.
At this point it’s worth waiting a week longer to make Schloss day no and then hire Wes Johnson and bring over his elite portal class
The “baseball is king at UT” mindset is so far removed from how the AD has treated the program for a long time now.
That said, we’re obviously not hiring an assistant for the baseball job
He’s absolutely been Herman stupid. Brought a JV coaching staff with him that turned into a revolving door of assistants. Hasn’t brought in a talented crop of pitchers in 4 years
Wonder if Clemson are telling Bakich he won’t have to change schools to coach in the SEC. Hope we make them double his salary at least
The Vitello wishcasting was always just that. He was going to change schools just to see some more cool pictures in the hallways of his facilities? The guy has it made already
It’s going to look shitty when we wasted the first few weeks of the portal to land a Wes Johnson, Rob Vaughn, or Canham type, but all are certainly upgrades.

Link to follow stats for guys out in Santa Barbara. Dee has been an every day guy. Mostly SS, though CF today. I assume more guy arriving throughout the month will eat into his time at premium positions.
Looks like tonight is Sanders’ first game catching and Hamilton is getting his first start.
Ages, for reference and draft context:
LBJ (c/o 2020), JT and Flores (c/o 2022) are all 21-ish.
Gage is nearly 23. Dre will turn 24 before draft day.
Unless we throw Gage's brother a spot to get Gage for another year, I'd be surprised if any are back
Is this a major problem? We hover around 5th-7th best fan base in the SEC. Facilities are likely in line with that. Austin is an easy travel destination. More cheap GA seats added will only serve to erode home field advantage at this point.
The home slate (and home performance) was pretty bad this year, but the crowds were extremely tame and half the park sold their Atm seat.
We went to Omaha back to back years and got TCUs 4th outfielder and a turmoil-filled USCs C and Sunday arm.
I don’t understand how there’s possibly an argument that being in the SEC won’t significantly improve our standing with transfers. And our standing with potential Pierce replacements.
There just isn’t a slam dunk. O’Connor is 1-4 in Omaha since the ‘15 title. Are Bakich or Canham proven enough? I’m operating under the assumption that Jarrett or an SEC name would be lost causes. After that you’re looking at Duke? NC Sts coach is 70.
That said, keeping Pierce for a few more years doesn’t change that picture at all. There’s never going to be a slam dunk that a school won’t fight tooth and nail for.
The offensive plan was solid. Impossible to expect PB to fall off, maybe you could say they should’ve added someone more productive than Cummings. The plan to showcase JT at CF likely caused issues pitching playing time
Pitching is obviously the issue. Minimal high school adds over 3 year. Chips all in on LBJ and Witt. Caught off-guard by Gordon signing. Reliever injuries galore. Bad luck injury bug or Pierce issue?
Still a lot of wasted pitches, but it felt like the mindset that he didn’t need to go 8 innings helped a lot. 5 from him and 4 from Gage was absolute perfection. Curious if Gage has a decision to make this summer
Asking Lummus to get 4 outs in a situation that was already way above his pay grade. The pitching plan played out better than anyone could’ve imagined and the defense fucked it.
