A QB is treated differently than any other player, and he wasn't sliding. We've often seen an INT near the end of the game where the defender falls down to protect the possession. Lots of those guys get hit right after their knee hits the ground but it's not called because they do it just before the hit. Not enough to time to pull up. Doesn't matter that he was in the end zone. He stayed up until before the hit. It's a live ball.
He was STARTING to give himself up. Replay showed the knee didn't touch ground until a split second before the hit. If the receiver pulls up and the interceptor decided to run it out? Whistle wasn't blown. Play was still live. If he gets hit before the knee goes down and the ball pops out and goes out of bounds then it's a touch back. Play to the whistle. But yeah, I'd be pissed if it was picked up against us, but I'd understand the reasoning whether I agreed or not.
But you're not buying out Jimbo. You continue to pay him to sit in an office and watch SpongeBob all day. It's like having an expensive car that doesn't work and can't be fixed but you owe a bunch on it still. You can pay off the entire loan and then go buy another, but that means you're paying for two entire cars at once which is hard to do. So you just keep making the monthly payments on the broken one, then lease payments on the new one. Much easier to afford two monthly payments then to pay off both in full.
Yep. Can't afford $95 million right now. Don't fire him. Reassign him to an assistant athletic director role and keep paying him his $9.5M salary on the current schedule even if you have to do it for ten years. Easier to make the monthly payments than pay the lump sum, especially when you're going to have to pay for a replacement at the same time. Fire the rest of the staff (hopefully they don't have long guaranteed contracts). Get a new coach - someone younger and cheaper with a decent track record to come in for 2-3 years at $3.5M or so. If they pan out, bump the pay. If not, then go after the big name once the national impression of Jimbo's aggys has faded. And they can hope Jimbo decides to quit and forfeit the rest of his pay. Make him the TexAgs liaison. That should do it. Or move his desk to the basement and take away his red stapler. Just keep him away from matches.
They went to AppSt and JacksonSt. Playoff teams aren't their concern. Wouldn't be surprised if they went to Tulane for the UCF game. Edit: You look over there and it's all about taking too much time to verify next week's schedule and getting beat by mdmost.
If anyone has any input on the post-game presser questions: "Coach, could you tell us which titter the defensive coaches hang out at during the game? And as a follow-up, how many of the offensive coaches join them at halftime?"
