  1. EDIT: I had dates mixed up. He played a year at Miami and then transferred just before the Fall 2023 season. He did not play with Akron that year and wasn't even listed on their roster. Even had he been the intention would be him redshirting to get his shit together. He then joined them formally in Spring and played at Arkon and Western Kentucky to close out his career. The issue is that contested 2023 season where he wasn't really part of Miami and he wasn't yet part of Akron.
  2. This is fantastic news. Some of us have been annoying the absolute fuck out of people in the program about Seymore for weeks now. I don't know all the newer specifics but everything we found initially looked very promising. This is NOT a shady appeal like the Trinidad situation (where he played that season but is now faking an injury for a retroactive redshirt). Whether he wins this appeal or not he has a very reasonable argument.
  3. Seymore is a great player and a solid fit for what we need. His side has been trying to engage with Texas for over a week now. Maybe longer. People on our side have been trying to get the staff to engage with him as well. Instead they were too busy deluding themselves into some stupid fucking fever dream in which starting players off Miami and Indiana were going to jump out and lay down at their feet like a fucking offering. There have been a dozen or so very good options at guard (and others that would have been major upgrades over Robertson at center) that have simply not been able to get any kind of engagement or response by the staff. It isn't our scouting department turning them away. These are all guys who pass the character checks and film study with flying fucking colors. Whether you think we are doomed or you think we will be fine I don't give a shit either way. You do you. But to the fucking retards acting like landing high quality IOL is difficult or that we simply haven't been able to convince the right guys... just shut up. You are talking out of your asses. The options have been there. Several great options are still fucking out there and wanting to come to Texas. If we go into 2026 with all our hopes pinned on converting some JAG tackles then that will be the choice of the staff. Not some forced result by necessity.
  4. Surprised he waited this long to jump fully back into coaching as a DC.
  5. Finally some additional clarity on that Duke ruling.
  6. Lynch may not have a starting position with them next year. They already have a better guard (LG Evans) and brought in Brunner from Wisconsin who is better than both. Then they also have a freshman that Indiana people seem to think will force the issue and win a starting guard job for next season this Spring. Lynch could in theory move inside to center but there is no guarantee he would even win that job as he could quite possibly be fighting Evans for it. Then you obviously have the NIL factor. Indiana can and will do what it takes financially to keep their starters but if Lynch is more likely shifting to a depth role for them? May not be as motivated to match whatever money we throw that way. Then there is ofc the Westlake connection and the fact that Lynch probably will be doing something other than playing pro ball as his career. If his desire is to relocate closer to where he grew up and start whatever the fuck he is doing after football in the Austin area then a single year at Texas could be invaluable towards that. I still think it is rather absurd to be gambling on such a longshot but at least this isn't like the Michigan guys who had literally no connection to us whatsoever nor reason to leave.
  7. Their entire OL situation is odd. They already had two solid guards with a supposedly badass freshman fighting to steal their jobs. Then they go add Brunner as well for big money. Neither Evans nor Lynch project high enough in the draft to where it makes sense for them to leave before exhausting their eligibility (both are RS Juniors). Still seems much more likely one of the two will slide inside to center and Brunner will start opposite with the Freshman sitting a second year but hey we've seen weirder shit this portal season so who knows.
  8. Another example of these rev share contracts doing their job. The buyouts were apparently too high on top of what the players wanted for anyone to bite. Might have been more suitors had they entered earlier but either way they fucked themselves signing the FSU deals for 2026 in the first place if they planned to explore options.
  9. Not by a huge margin or anything but PFF grading had Baker as the better tackle this year. They both score very high in pass protection but Baker was better in the run game. Obviously PFF is far from perfect but the eye test seems to support that. They are certainly comparable in performance and Baker was facing consistently better competition.
  10. I simply refuse to believe that Texas would consider dropping 3+ million on a tackle that was worse than Baker in 2025 just to push Baker to the bench. It would make absolutely no sense.
  11. It does feel like PFF needs to rework their run blocking grade system. EVERYONE can't be a bad run blocker on the offensive front yet it sure as shit seems that way. Even the All-Conference guys are almost always "Well he is good in the pass game with a ~65 pass block grade but oh boy he isn't motivated to block the run, ~55 grade there".
  12. I'm mentally bracing for the first attempted Kid Rock Bawitdaba puns.
  13. Did we ever get any info on why Keynodo Hudson wasn't brought back? He seemed to be doing a great job with the nickels. Doesn't look he has been hired anywhere else (per google results anyway). I'd assume we replace him and then park Gideon at safeties even if his title is more general than that.
  14. The On3 write up made sure to remind everyone of the high caliber of player we are losing.
  15. IT saying Brenner hopes are dead. Not that there was ever really much of a reason to think he was considering Texas anyway.
  16. We already needed to add three OL either way. We need a starting LG, a RG or RT with Baker playing whichever is left and then a backup center (seriously who tf would play that spot if Roberston gets hurt?). Not sure Brooks leaving bumps that number any but a lot of work still needs to get done at that spot.
  17. Did we ever get confirmation that Justus Terry has signed? We were told originally that a deal was done but then an update late last week just said "things are trending the right way". Never saw anything after that.
  18. It is one thing to bring up that game. Ofc you go the extra mile and include footage.
  19. I know of at least one very heated conversation where he doubled down on having made the right choice, claimed Stroh would still be starting if not injured and then basically said in not so many words that the OL would get even worse with him out. Probably already saying more than I should but fuck that guy. Was the moment I became certain we need to yeet his ass into the sun or in the very least hire another coach that actually handles the OL even if Flood keeps the title as Sark's favorite ass licker. There is a good chance this was about Stroh actually. Say what you want about his level of play but he and his family fully embraced becoming part of the Longhorn community in a way that is increasingly rare now. I've talked as much vicious shit about the kid's playing ability as anyone and feel zero guilt (these are now paid professional athletes so it goes with the territory) but I can only imagine how difficult that must be to see as a parent. Or as a kid just honestly trying your best and failing. In theory it could also fit Roberson who was actually pretty good at corner but was just permanently branded a brain dead fuckup for his penalty issues.
  20. Some programs have begun splitting up tackles and IOL into two different position groups with their own coaches the same way edge and IDL are split now. I believe Cal just did this. I doubt we will explore that avenue but I do think it will become increasingly popular in the future with coaching caps removed. Flood is hardly alone in being specifically good at only one aspect of his position.
  21. Do they post the finebaum show's VOD after it airs? I'm not masochistic enough to listen live but I wouldn't mind clicking through for the meltdown call ins after the fact.
  22. As the saying goes it is better to regret the poops you took on RGBIII's yard than the ones you didn't later. edit: Yeah I did NOT quote the right comment. Whatever I'm leaving it.
