The college landscape is changing in real time and there are people who think it’s only happening to Texas. The reality is we do not know yet in this landscape what the best roster solution is. Despite knowing we have as many resources as anyone there are people on this thread thinking we have adopted some new disastrous strategy.
The guy who wanted a pay day went to a school struggling to raise money and is losing g all of its players. I’m guessing he did not get as much as his agent promised him.
I was in the box next to the Nebraska coaches for that game. At one point in the second half, I was looking at the Texas sidelines with binoculars and an assistant coach walked over with a clip board to coach Hall up but realized he was sobbing uncontrollably and instead but his hand on his shoulder to comfort him. It’s still the wildest shit I have ever seen on a football sideline.
I think most figured Cruz/Neto were gone and that was already factored in. It sounds like they want two more starters on the offensive line even if one is a tackle.
The issue Clark is going to eventually run into is most teams already know who their RB1 is going to be. Especially teams that will allocate mid six figures.
A year removed from major injury, one good game and he thinks the market will pay him RB1 money? The only team that would have is Texas and that’s not going the way he hoped. Now he will go to Baylor or Kentucky for half of what he asked I’m guessing.
Sounds like Deandre Moore is finding out the hard way what his fair market value is. Picking the right agent is going to be pretty important to players going forward.
The results are what they are. He’s the probably the best QB in franchise history already which says something about the Bears. Williams has been the best fourth quarterback in the NFL this season.
It’s a factor, not the only one for sure. Also properly taxes are high in Texas and most of these big pro guys probably buy. If I’m in college and might play for a different school every year I would rent in Texas or Florida and realize the full state tax difference. Just one part of the financial consideration but it would probably only matter if everything else were equal.
