  1. How does nervously excited not make any sense? Like a kid on Christmas Eve imagining what presents they'll get.
  2. Arky was anticipating him to be ready for spring ball according to an interview with Pittman in October. No clue if that's still the case but I'd imagine he would be in a non-contact jersey wherever he is this fall spring while learning whichever defense he'll be starting for next year.
  3. back-to-back shoulder injuries in 2021 & this year. Had reconstructive surgery this year.
  4. No way did he say the portal is your friend. No way that just happened with the blackhole sucking everyone out of BCS as we speak.
  5. With legitimate backups. Thompson & Red with a year in the system & Cook & Niblet coming in as well. Excellent WR room & the ability to be extra picky in the portal or allocate the spot to another position if no one we want is available.
  6. Sorry that your dumb post requires a response with words. Basically, you're an idiot for saying it's unfathomable that Beard is still employed.
  7. It's not that unfathomable for a few reasons. 1. The few contracts I've read up on have some sort of time line for the coach to present their "case" to the decision makers before they can be fired for cause. Pitino had a specific number of days at Louisville. He actually went back & sued Louisville because they suspended him before that time was up & they eventually settled out of court. Beard's previous contract at TTU was more vague & essentially just allowed for an unspecified period of time. Either way, it's likely his contract at UT has it in writing, find that (I've half-assed tried but couldn't find his actual contract) & you may find a timeline if they've already made up their minds to fire him. 2. Assuming the very small group of people that will ultimately decide Beard's employment status at UT haven't already made up their minds, there's a lot that could, potentially, go into this decision. Most of those reasons have been discussed ad nauseum in this thread so there's no need to rehash it all, but the "he's going to be fired no matter what" crowd seems to underestimate the power that a proven winner at a money-making sport can wield if they have the right donors in their corner. Add to that the fact that he's an alum & the roots run even deeper. If his future is still in doubt it will likely all come down to "what information will come out & what information could potentially come out in the future?". Now, with how many journalists hate Texas, including the ones that cover Texas, it seems unlikely that anything will be left covered up for very long so, if they decide to keep him, they better make sure there aren't any bad pictures of the injuries & the alleged audio really does help Beard & not hurt him, because those things will 100% be leaked.
  8. Do you think our coaches do that for any reason other than controlling narratives & recruiting new players & promoting a family atmosphere that mama & grandma can send their kids to? Do you think "potentially questionable incident" of someone that the coach is seeing personally is any sort of barrier to hiring the men's basketball coach? I could see, maybe, someone like a cross country coach or quidditch coach not passing compliance because of a crazy spouse or something, but the HC of 1 of the 2 money making sports? nah. Win games, make money, don't get caught doing something stupid. He failed at number 3
  9. Yeah, but, like, what if they have our balls hidden way down in their purse & they're hard to find? Is it okay to leave without them or do we have to ask for them back first, because that could be awkward.
  10. "Hey there is some stuff floating around about your gf/fiancé/fiancée, everything good?" "Everything's fine" If it went any further than that then it would be shocking (if it even went that far). He's a basketball coach with no known history of any sort of trouble, why would CDC question him about a his gf & what he thinks is the acceptable amount of time between divorce-dating-marriage?
  11. Jimbo: What are your demands? BP: Full control of the offensive play calling, implementation, recruiting decisions, on & off field assistants, & $1mm/year + bonuses. Jimbo: I can do $1.5mm/year, you get absolutely no say in anything on the offensive side of the ball but I'll get you a new motorcycle & what you do with any coed &/or my wife will be none of my business. BP: gig me.. i mean gig 'em!
  12. Stick around long enough and maybe they slap an "Interim Head Coach" tag on him 2 or 3 years from now when they finally raise the funds for Jimbo's buyout.
  13. Laugh at your own peril, the punt block defense was unstoppable on Madden rookie mode.
  14. Maybe he's finally breaking into the sunflower seed NIL. Or possibly he's now the new starting LB since they have literally no one else & that's the face he's going to make when getting trucked by a RB? or both?
  15. I'm sure the ACC could lobby for Friday night vs. PAC 12 on FOX. I understand ESPN wanting to have coverage all day but going up against the B1G is just beating your head against the wall with regards to ratings.
  16. Certainly better numbers than what I was expecting. It definitely helps that it was the only major conference game on Saturday that was predicted to be close & had the possibility to affect the playoffs. The biggest news out of looking into this for me is just how far the ACC has fallen. Partly due to a lack of someone to rival Clemson & because FSU & Miami are so far down, but man those ratings are BAD BAD & have been bad for a while now. The PAC12 receives a lot of flack for TV viewership but their Friday night championship games have been increasing in TV ratings while the ACC has been falling. Obviously USC being a playoff contender & Williams a Heisman candidate helped this year, but the ACC viewership numbers are just embarrassing. They need to accept their fate & stop contending with the B1G & just move it to noon or Friday night to see if that helps.
  17. ISU & Campbell are a great pairing & he seems like the type of coach that thrives as an underdog but would crumble under the pressure of a program with expectations higher than simply making bowl games. It'll be interesting to see what happens if Heacock ever leaves though.
  18. Oh TexAgs. In typical aggy fashion you have overestimated your importance & relevance. The only reason anyone takes time to screenshot & post your messages is because we all need to laugh every now & then & aggy is undefeated at unintentional comedy.
  19. NFL does it right. They have the best product hands down from start to finish. Their playoffs blow any other sport out the water, especially college football. A (currently) 5-6 TB hosting a playoff game against a (currently) 9-3 Cowboys is far from "right". It's certainly better than what the CFP currently has though.
