Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
So should we just not waste our time/resources on any recruit Oregon is after (until that son of a bitch dies)?

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
I'm guessing the staff would rather allocate funds elsewhere.. but I'm pretty sure we would gladly accept his commitment if he wanted to come here.

I've thought about that as well. MFer probably cost us 2 NCs.

Maybe what we need is already on campus and this big Poly kid gives us good depth? I'm gonna go full aggy "trust the corches" here, but I'd be a lot more confident if this kid was on Bo's radar before he left. He just entered the portal a few days ago. He'll be a backup next season, even if we don't add anyone else. Not all transfers are starters. The hope is to find someone who can compete for the starting nose spot in the spring.

Tell Me About Washington
Sark and Deboer both left for better jobs. Don't know what to tell you. I would say I know how you feel, but I don't. It's gotta suck though.

I would imagine whatever he wants to give to football, he'll do while he's alive.

He can't have that much longer. The bad news is the older he gets, the more desperate he'll be to see a championship before he croaks.

Need to win this one if for no other reason than to tell Oregon to fuck off.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
Gotta go all in on the Mississippi DL.. which we were hopefully already doing anyway

We really need another DT with the attrition we've had (Sweat/Murphy going pro, Carter transferring, and Ross off the team). A one-year rental like Caldwell would've been perfect to bridge the gap. Gotta get a DL coach and hope another quality guy (hopefully one of the Bama DL) jumps in.

Tell Me About Washington
They don't seem to realize that Washington isn't, never has been, and never will be a destination job. Unless there's some personal ties, any coach would leave UW for a blue blood.

It's not Brain Kelly anyone is worried about. LSU clearly found some money.

2024 Texas Football Coaching and Support Staff Thread
Oregon's recruiting will almost certainly take a hit whenever Phil Knight (85) decides to go. They'll still do well because of the brand they've built, but it'll be tougher. As for Lanning, he had a talent advantage over probably every team they played the last 2 years, besides UGA who beat them 49-3. Maybe he dominates at Bama for 20+ years.. or he could totally flame out. Much more likely the latter imo.

How often do you see a DB called for holding? Maybe once a game? Our DBs and OL should be holding every single play.

We should never recruit more than 2 HS WRs a year. Edit: thought Baker was portaling. Point still kinda stands though.

How did/are you dealing with it?
I would say he already accomplished step 3. You don't have to have an all-time team to win an NC (although it certainly improves your chances). This team wouldn't beat 04 USC, 05 Texas, or 19 LSU, but they could definitely hang with 07 LSU, 09 Bama, or 13 FSU. That said, I don't think this is our final form. We still have a lot of room for improvement in the secondary, edge, and interior OL. Even Quinn this season was probably around the baseline for what Sark wants at QB.

Kirby had some tough setbacks before finally breaking through. I think we could be on a similary trajectory with the way Sark is building the roster. Sucks because we had a legit shot this year, but we should have plenty more.
