There have to be a couple of decent IOL guys out there. Places like Northwestern, Boston College, Big 12, and Virginia must have someone with potential we could entice who would feel comfortable at a real school.
Portal has definitely changed things, and watching how OL management moves forward will be interesting. Under the now old HS recruit model, you needed what, 15-18 OL on the roster knowing that some will take time to develop and some will never make it? Now, you might be able to get by with 10-12 knowing you can restock with experience in the portal.
Yes--on third and long with our slow receivers covered after an offsides call or a dropped pass or our RB getting stood up in the backfield. With the talent upgrade, we should never have a third down again (assuming the optimism about more OL portals comes true).
I don't think we got two major portal RBs for Arch's number of carries to stay the same. It's probably a point of emphasis to reduce his exposure to tacklers. Even with all this, we aren't doing much if Arch is on the sidelines.
So far we have acquired the ACC's leading tackler, the ACC's leading rusher (YPG), the Big 12's second leading rusher, the best SEC WR, and maybe the best guard from Oregon State.
Biles is immediately seen on his highlights by the way he moves and makes plays. It's like watching a top HS recruit blow up his vastly inferior competition except this is college tape. Hook 'em!
Man, Stroh should take some theater classes. If he's going to be a huge red-headed incompetent villain in real life, he should cash in on it with movie appearances. His sidekick could be Jaggy "Wormtongue" McJaggerson.
Given my dislike of both teams, I've been going back and forth, but I think I've decided I want Miami to win. It puts Ole Miss players in the portal and keeps Miami from focusing on the portal. So, let's go Beck. Ugh.
One million is not one million after agent fees and taxes. Of course the 500k is going to make a difference. Also, every player should be using some of that money and taking out a large Lloyd's type of injury insurance (I assume there are still places to get those, right?).
Look guys, Sark has said repeatedly that he does not bring up NIL until the very last moment. We're just in the phase where the staff is highlighting how great the culture is at Texas and how every player (except those that hit the portal) has bought in to the vision. So, patience. Once our targets understand how great the culture is, we'll get them at a fine discount.
Points for Texas: QB, NFL player production, better WR room so less double coverage, better defensive backfield so you improve in practice, better team, better coaching. Points for aggy: Uh, well... I guess there's nothing wrong with that.
Picky point, but the HOT! button on threads seems a bit too inclusive. A couple of posters going back and forth for a few posts seems like it wouldn't fall into the traditional HOT! category and if everything is HOT!, then is anything really HOT!? For instance, the Dabo thread is HOT! but only has 4 new posts in it.
Seems too early. There is still the possibility that we could host Oklahoma for a playoff game and once ol' Brent learns how to use him, 750 yards in one game is not out of the question for that kind of talent.
