  1. Also... Carter Bryant is shooting 44% from three on 27 attempts in the last 7 games and plays great defense and can switch 1-4 and doesn't need the ball in his hands. He's an absolute dream fit if he can keep his shooting up.
  2. He was a RFA. They technically could have signed and traded him. As if there would have been any takers. But for sure they did him a solid so hopefully he will get some run somewhere, show off that beautiful three point shot he worked on all summer, and get an decent contract next year.
  3. Why couldn't they have traded him in the last year of his contract?
  4. They are making Dallas look like a high school team tonight. Which is about right because their best player should still be in high school.
  5. Saw this dude at the Milwaukee game a few weeks ago. You can always go duct tape route.
  6. How do you play with Donovan Mitchell and James Harden in the same backcourt? On either end of the court.
  7. I don't watch the Rockets that much, but I'd be willing to bet that Ime is scared shitless to play Sheppard because of his defense, especially at crunch time when the game slows down. He makes a lot of scrappy defensive plays and gets into the passing lane and does some nice instinctual things in the open court and can disrupt some shots that he has no business disrupting. But at the end of the day, he is a giant fucking target who absolutely dies on every screen and gets muscled out of position by pretty much everyone in the league and it's compounded by the lack of rim protection behind him. There's really no one to clean up his messes.
  8. This team is so fucking young and so ahead of schedule. Every loss is a lesson. This isn’t a particularly easy team to coach, either. They are inconsistent as hell from three and they have their in game lapses as every team does. But to me, the most important thing is that they are unselfish and play hard every night and play for each other. I don’t know how much credit you want to give to Mitch for that or if it’s just the makeup of the personalities of the team, but they’ve clearly got a good thing going and he’s clearly not fucked it up. His ass is young too and still learning. I give him a lot of credit for bringing in assistants who honestly have more experience than he does. To me, that shows a lot of confidence and that he has little ego about himself. We can always quibble about playing time, but it wasn’t that long ago that Bryn Forbes was inexplicably getting like 30 minutes a night from one of the greatest coaches of all time. So I’m okay with giving Mitch some space to experiment and grow and learn. I think he’ll be pretty good long term.
  9. You weren't kidding about big news. I can read that 50 feet away from my computer.
  10. Every time I see Cleveland, Jaylon Tyson is giving somebody the business. I don't think I've ever seen that dude miss a three point shot. I'd kill to have him on the Spurs and I don't think I'd ever heard of him 6 weeks ago.
  11. Really, really sucks for Houston, but Adams injury history was always going to be a roll of the dice.
  12. There were times last year when you couldn't tell that Stroh was alive, so.... yes?
  13. The nets are not looking to compete anytime soon. They would want an asset along with Garland. I think they would like trade capital in anything they do with MPJ. They are doing the OKC thing. Take bad contracts for picks, then when the player raises his value or is on the last year of his contract, trade him again for more picks and another bad contract. Lather rinse repeat. It’s good business for a tanking team. That’s how you end up with a zillion frps. OKC was just fortunate enough to also get a future mvp and completely fleece the clippers in the process.
  14. And there’s your ball game.
  15. Blown leads is a meaningless stat. If you score the first basket of the game and lose, it's a blow lead. Dumb. Blown 10+ point leads is a little more meaningful. I don't think it's a coaching problem per se. They've had Wemby either out or on a minutes restriction almost the entire season. Vassell has been out for a considerable portion. Early in the season Castle, Harper and Fox were all out at various points. It's also just part of a young team learning as it grows. And with the proliferation of the three ball and how they ref defense these days... teams can get on rolls pretty quickly. But here's something meaningful: Spurs are tied for first in 4th quarter comebacks with 13. I think that shows the resiliency of the team. I also think that playing all of these tight fourth quarter games and winning most of them is better experience for a young team trying to learn how to close out games than blowing someone out by 30. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see them run a few more teams out of the gym, but they are finding ways to win close games at crunch time and they have the third best record in the league. If you had told me before the season that the Spurs would be 31-14 after 45 games, I probably would have laughed at you and told you that you were crazy.
  16. I might take Kobe just because he typically played 1 on 5 and ignored his teammates. Going 1 on 1 would be a relief to him. Also... I don't believe anybody has mentioned George Gervin. He was completely unstoppable on offense. He didn't guard particularly well, but he blocked an inordinate amount of shots for a guard. I'd take my chances with Ice over a lot of guys. Peak Kawhi would be tough. Super efficient offensively from all three levels with great handle -- so you couldn't just sag on him or press him at the three point line, he can get his own efficient shot whenever he wants, can guard both bigger guys with his length and is still quick enough to bother smaller players. I suppose it largely depends what the rules are in this game. What are we talking, here?
  17. Fox and Keldon been great tonight.
  18. Carter Bryant doing some nice things.
  19. Those light years go by faster than they used to.
  20. They went cold from three in the second half. Good looks just couldn’t knock them down. They also stopped playing at the pace they were in the first half. They stopped pushing the ball.
  21. One missed wide open three after another.
  22. Gotta start knocking down some shots.
  23. Whatever the fuck they did to that rim, they need to do it before every Spurs game.
