  1. As the tragically unique and irreplaceable Brisket has so eloquently said, "why not both?"
  2. SaaS is being absolutely obliterated right now. Lots of white collar workers, especially the glut of lawyers, should be on high alert.
  3. Pretty much 99% of the doomers on this site. Hilarious
  4. Speaking of Peace, saw on prediction markets
  5. If you were ever in the last 30 years going to do it, now seems like the perfect time. The regime is crippled. The Rial is crippled. Inflation and Bail outs were rampant and unpopular. Oil prices are low, so the calvary isn't necessarily coming. Air defenses are crippled due to prior US-Israeli hits. To sever the head now, it actually makes sense...
  6. I don't vote. Personal choice. Love this. Great share!
  7. I am a Christ follower and I agree. The public schools have a mandate to be neutral on this topic. Students can carry and read their bible stories on their free time. So can any number of religious followers. Forcing it into schools will not help, I don't think. But because I appreciated the bible stories in school, I didn't send my kids to public schools. That's the appropriate response. Not this.
  8. This is dumb to me. Here is the exact quote below. AI is not going to be an existential threat. That's such an emotional and irrational take. Nuclear Bombs are nearly infinitely more of an existential threat to our existence, and we actually have the evidence of that, and yet nobody bats an eye. You get a bunch of people who know nothing about how anything works and fill their heads with nonsense and you get a bunch of old lawyers doing their best Mack Brown scared to death impressions. It's honestly the weirdest era we are in.
  9. This. But of course the ancients among us are completely bought in on the doomers movement. I'm an ancient too of course, but it's funny and entirely plausible to me that (as posted on the other AI thread) a lot of this is fake and marketing and humans are controlling the agents for attention/funding (e.g. join the newsletter for the new product launch, etc.)
  10. Been watching the Moltbook activity out of morbid curiousity. I'm not nearly as impressed as, say, Elon Musk ("...the beginning of singularity...") but it's mildly interesting. Then I read this which just makes all the sense in the world actually
  11. yea, it seems like a thinly veiled pass-through of cash to buy this documentary for unprecedented sums. not a great look for the billionaires here.
  12. lol that's not at all what I meant. Just that the rumors of the documentary death are greatly exaggerated, but it's still a dumb concept and movie.
  13. That's an Amazon problem. For a documentary, it was the best start for a documentary (excluding concert films) in 14 years. I tend to agree with Mac though, that it's going to be very early-heavy and then wane rapidly with little to no staying power. Regardless, for people who are political and really wanted to dunk, unfortunately it was "a face-saving result for the first lady" according to the NYT.
  14. This guys lived to be 93 FYI

Sort of a page turner. Not as good or dynamic as Too Big To Fail, but illuminating in odd ways in that it corrects with some boring facts some of the lore that has been created around the crash. A good look into the politics. Super interesting to see some parallels with today. Also Sorkin does not let off the "Carter Glass was a racist" gas pedal until the very end.
