  1. Heart breaking. This wound won't heal!
  2. I had never heard of Effective Accelerationism. For anyone else who wats a primer: https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/17pvn0n/eli5_what_is_effective_accelerationism_eacc/?rdt=47140
  3. But Bozo is right because "Abolish ICE" is hyperbolic for most people. "At its core, the anti-ICE movement does not merely criticize immigration policy. It rejects enforcement altogether. It treats borders as immoral, laws as optional, and authority as inherently oppressive."
  4. Played hockey in the middle of street in Prosper today. That was cool (travel hockey teens live on our street), it's like their once every 5 year Christmas.
  5. Effective Altruism (EA) is the new Libertarian, I think.

I think I agree with him with this line and this line only:
  7. Funny story. I once worked with a guy from Nigeria. Super smart guy. He graduated from Austin College and was reluctant to talk about it. Come to find out, he was applying for colleges in the US while living in Nigera/Africa. He thought he was applying and accepted to University of Texas at Austin when he accepted and his parents settled all the paperwork and payments to Austin College. At least that was his story but I didn't understand what his hang up was anyways, I heard good things about Austin College has a small liberal arts school and it's pre-med program is supposedly really good?

I'll have to look up the interview. I listened to a 40 mins interview about it with Michael Lewis and immediately added it afterwards.

I really liked TBTF back in the day. Figured why not. Palate cleanser from some of the heavier stuff I've been reading.
  10. Thought we'd get some action but it was a nice first episode. Had a Western feel to it to begin with, with the grave scene and then some of the score. I like Westerns.
  11. Wow was NOT expecting that Twisty McTwisty.
  12. I would imagine most of us are that way, but as acknowledged almost daily on threads all across this fair site, we are not the normal, general wide part of the bell curve when compared to most Americans.
  13. March of 2026. As in a couple of months. Like @safe sex most people in the middle/poor do their taxes as soon as possible, probably to get advance access to the refund money. I wait until the very last minute and pretend it's not a problem because I procstinate and dont' generally like to confront uncomfortable things.
  14. I think they come in March? I'm actually not sure because I generally do really well to skirt the line of tax code legality to try and get to a breakeven $0 or pay $1000>. But I think the memes about poor people getting their refunds are generally around march (e.g. poor people cramming in a La Quinta for that trip to Miami, buying cars from dirt lot dealers, etc.). I have zero clue on your last question.
  15. Speaking of CU Boulder I just read this, in terms of Sundance Film Festival moving from Utah after this year to Boulder, CO next year: Boulder’s offer of $34 million in tax credits over 10 years, along with more venues to support expansion and proximity to the University of Colorado, won the approval of Sundance and Redford, who died in September. That's cool!
