  1. None. Abreu’s the superior player, and making less than $3mil/year more. If anything, that makes the Abreu deal look even better. The extra year might backfire, I guess, but the AAV is right in line with projections, while Bell looks like a big overpay. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-top-50-free-agents/
  2. "Belong" is an interesting way to phrase it. If the 12 team format were in place this year, for instance, you'd have teams like Kansas State and Utah in. Do you think they belong on the field with Georgia or Michigan?
  3. Which is again why giving a guy with one good season in his career 8 figures for the next 3 years was probably not a great move.
  4. Texas also beat the #1 team in the country.
  5. I don’t know that he would be. He has an additional year of team control, is a better defender than Reynolds, and has the added bonus of being your backup catcher if you want. Reynolds bat is better, but Varsho’s is still above average. For what it’s worth, baseball trade values rates him as more valuable than Reynolds.
  6. Varsho would be a great addition, but I doubt he’d be cheap.
  7. It’s never been that way in the illustrious 9 year history of the playoff…great point.
  8. I also think Garcia is generally underrated. But I think it’s Urquidy, not Brown, that fans tend to overrate.
  9. Fwiw, baseball trade values accepts the deal. It’s almost exactly equal in value by their calculation.
  10. He contributed more than Gurriel. Diaz put up .6 fWAR, 1.0 bWAR in only about 90 games. Gurriel was negative in both. I guess you can argue he won’t be as big a negative if he’s only playing part time, but that’s offset by trying to play him at positions he’s incapable of defending (Diaz is average or better everywhere but SS). Even if you don’t want to sign anyone else, it’s a worse idea than seeing what a prospect can do or even just bringing Diaz back. It’s irrational.
  11. I don’t care about the money, because I don’t think that’s enough to keep them from adding anyone else they want (especially if Crane is serious about going over the tax threshold if needed-I assume his deal is only 1 year). The bigger problem is it’s a horrible use of a roster spot.
  12. The unwritten rules are confusing when it comes to what sort of cheating is allowed.
  13. You sure about that part? I assumed he had to dive everywhere he went.
  14. “I admittedly don’t have any idea what I’m talking about, but here’s my opinion anyway.”

Lawrence was a pretty good runner, he just wasn't asked to do it too often - though he did carry the ball over 100 times as a sophomore. Career 231-943-4.1 ypc and 18 TDs

Speaking of short memories, I imagine it has more to do with watching Ewers “slice up” two bad defenses in OSU and TCU. I’d have gladly taken one of Card’s supposedly below average performances in those games, because we’d have won.

If this year is any indication, the primary reaction will be denial.
  18. No. He’s under contract.
