Surly kids applying / attending UT
When I got the mail today, there was a letter from UT for my son. They asked him to apply because the deadline for early decision or whatever is November 1st. (If he'd stayed in high school for four years he probably would have applied, because he has the grades, scores, and class rank, but he's trying to stay local because of his age.) Just a bit surprised at the last minute push by UT admissions.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
Another good, but not great ep.

Nintendo Switch
A demo version of Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity was released.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
I think they're over their sophomore slump.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
There's supposed to be 13 episodes. No matter what happens, it can't take that many episodes.

Well...

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
Maybe.

Dexter
They did that with her character, Darla, on Buffy/Angel. Might seem derivative.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
No. Some may see the end as cheesy, but it got dusty.

Archer Season 11. Might be good again?
It wasn't vintage, but it was consistently funny throughout most of the episode.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
The beginning and the end were very good. The middle was good, nothing bad, just expected exposition.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
It definitely finished a much better show than it started, somewhat similar to the arc of the Orville in season 1. Unfortunately, where the Orville became TNG with the occasional gag, LD remains too zany to truly be Trek. I suppose irreverence is better than full-on SJW, so we should count our blessings.

Denis Villeneuve's Dune
They aren't just reps. They're navigators.

Fatsa v Mensa Game Thread
64 minute quarter. Just hope it doesn't go to OT.

Fort Worth is exploding
Back in 2005 or so, I got a used computer. It had been owned by Cullen Davis' wife. Looks like he had also used it, since they both had profiles on it. Tons of IE bookmarks for online painkillers and the like. A weird saved chat about how someone, "Knew everything." I pulled the old hard drive and swapped it out for a new one. Last I saw that old hard drive, it was sitting unused in a computer at my then-MIL's house. Who knows, it may still be there. She tends to hoard stuff.

The Boys Season 2
It's not surprising. We see this in real life, like with that punk that shot up the El Paso Walmart. The people who fall short of the archetype are often the most hateful.

The Boys Season 2
Looks like we were probably wrong.

The Boys Season 2
I'd think they make it more likely.

The Boys Season 2
It's possible. I've definitely had the same thought.

Kids braces - cost
There are many brace alternatives aside from Invisalign: Byte and FastBraces come to mind. Many cost less than $6k. Most won't work well if your kid's teeth are seriously messed up.

Star Trek Discovery: Season 2 - It Got Good. Real Good. (Ep 1 inside)
It's better than nothing. If you can get into a Young Adult, non-canon Star Trek style series, it's fine.

Help me buy a toilet
I have a $72 toilet seat. Not a bidet. It's a special fat man toilet seat that allegedly won't break.

Denis Villeneuve's Dune
I, for one, actually enjoyed Dune Messiah's more evocative approach to worldbuilding. It should be seen as a coda to Dune and not a standalone novel, unlike Children of Dune. It also could be dropped from the series without much loss.

The Boys Season 2
The tit-lasering was underwhelming.

Let's say you have to travel back in time.
Iām a middle aged fat man with extremely limited survival skills, some fluency in modern Spanish and the barest of smatterings of German and Latin. So 1820 in Baltimore or another large US city.
