Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
He's been on campus a couple times, but none recently. I think this was absolutely a hat on the table, but I also believe there was some consternation re: Hartline leaving and his team wanting some assurances on the backfill of that role

2026 WR Christopher Stewart
For transparency's sake: I've known this kid a while and was sure his impact at Texas would outpace his recruiting rankings/profile. Not so much anymore - turned into a really bad teammate this year as a nationally recruited sophomore and freshman (Jaylen Addai and BJ Lafell) took his touches while he was injured and didn't relinquish them. Hate to use the word, but he was a cancer. Hope he gets his shit together ASAP

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Apologies if already discussed, but has tiger droppings indicated whether Kiffin is planning on retaining Cortez Hankton? I saw he was bringing his WR coach from Oxford. Kids and parents really gravitate towards Hank, it’d be a big loss for them in recruiting and a big win for any school that wants to recruit Southern Louisiana and I-10 Houston to the Triangle.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
They're not ready. If they were ready, they'd be playing. The coaches are with them every day and are putting the best players on the field - no one gives AF about their feelings during a one score game, or even a six score game. They play guys as the game on the field dictates. I promise you, the coaches made clear at freshman move in that NIL/high school star rankings/their fragile emotions have absolutely no bearing on snap counts. I understand that a part of fandom is assuming you know more than the coaches, but I'd bet that the offensive staff (who conducts practice, then watches practice film, then works corrections on the practice film with their room, then meets as an entire offensive staff to discuss EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE REP) has a pretty good handle on who should be on the field. But anywho, BTFO uga

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
I'm not picking nits, but there are five linemen (counting Majors) currently on rosters from the last two draft classes. All developed by Flood. It's an entirely new unit this year - most folks expected struggles, or should have. A plug and play guy from the portal would be fantastic, and I'd imagine the staff is angling for one. That said, I think the gnashing of teeth may be a bit overblown. OL more than any other group is improved appreciably by continuity and the guys knowing each other. They'll be better next year.

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - I'm With Stupid
This. Baker is looking better, and will end up being a good one. Beyond that, for OP to pretty much dismiss Nick Brooks' future because he struggled in the SEC as a true freshman is laughable.

Michael Taaffe wants you to stop being such fucking pussies.
IMO Taaffe is just protecting his teammates - from the press and also the fanbase. Nobody's got any idea how this year will shake out, but the guys in the locker room have to really embrace an "us vs everybody else" attitude at this point, especially with the noise from all sides being mostly negative. Maybe he could've answered the questions more measuredly, but I appreciate him standing up for the team. Also, I haven't had a second watch and probably won't as there's no current need for anesthesia, but he seemed to play his balls off outside of a couple missed run fits/angles where he gave up outside leverage and couldn't discard a block. If all the guys who traveled on the team plane yesterday were okay with what he said, it's a net positive.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2027: Elko's Cholesterol - Not Great, Not Terrible
Running style is pretty similar too - one/two cuts and downhill with low pad level. To be the shortest guy on the field, he's a load to get down. The guy can really play, I've seen him give everyone fits since he was a little kid and all of us have been waiting for his size to become an issue.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2027: Elko's Cholesterol - Not Great, Not Terrible
I can't think of a situation where I'd feel a football need to pull him off the field. He's plenty thick to pick up blitzers or chip in the pass game if you keep him in to protect, but he can also catch the ball. His build is similar to Maurice Jones Drew or Jacquizz Rodgers, and those guys could play every down in college. I know it's tough without an obvious comp, and he isn't Barry Sanders, but the kid can play football at a really high level. I don't see any coach passing on his commitment.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2027: Elko's Cholesterol - Not Great, Not Terrible
He's gonna play running back at a P4 school. He's nothing like Blue or Bolden in terms of build. As for him not being the height that schools covet, there's nothing to be done about that. If you see him run the ball, there's really no questioning it.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2027: I remember watching his dad play
Really quick and fast kid. Good receiver, but I don't think Texas is going to be giving committable offers to kids who are the third/fourth receiver on their high school team. I hope Texas increases contact with Jaylen Addai '28 - he's having an amazing year.

Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
In any context it's hard to make an argument that a team with 14 offensive draft selections over two years, which also made the NCAA semifinals in those two years is missing evals and not developing players adequately. Performance on the field and NFL Draft success are probably the best KPIs for both evaluation and development. I don't want to die on any hills, but I feel pretty comfortable with that.

Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
There have been seven offensive players taken in each of the past two drafts. I don't think we can argue against development so much right now.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2027: Elko's Cholesterol - Not Great, Not Terrible
Yea he's been their best player since his freshman year. His uncles/cousins were built like that and both played in the league and coached him in the Richmond Oilers organization - he's probably carried the ball 30 times a week since he was 6.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2027: Elko's Cholesterol - Not Great, Not Terrible
He went 10.5 this summer, so the 40 time tracks (no pun). He's a thickly built kid. There may not be a ton of comps out there, but I hope length isn't an impediment to a committable offer from Texas - he's special to watch, for sure. If there were any concern, I'd think it would be carrying such a heavy workload for four years in high school. Kid has been tackled a whole lotta times.

Texas Football 2025 - Seven Win Steve Rides Again
Injuries suck. Baxter's was horrible, and it remains to be seen if/how he returns from it. He was by no means easy to get on the ground prior to the injury. In fact, he had all the makings of a legacy back at Texas. He runs hard, he falls forward, he doesn't make mental errors (inclusive of pass pro), he catches the ball, and when he blocks folks they stay blocked.

Duncanville lost to Waxahachie?!?! I have an old teammate from Duncanville who is insufferable. Many thanks for this tidbit lmao- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Kid is a fucking DAWG. I didn't see him at Nationals for track this year, so assuming he the summer off to train football specifically. I hate to say this man's name, but it's hard not to think of Sean Taylor when you see him. I don't know anything about the kid's character, etc - he's got all the makings of an All-Pro safety.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Chris Stewart just took the opening kick of the season to the house vs. Summer Creek.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Unsure how it's determined which posts constitute "CR", but fairly sure that the families of many Houston area recruits and a certain swath of Houstonians period, have a different view of Quanell X and his work than what's been stated above.- 2025 game Week 1, #1 Texas @ #3 Ohio State - What the Fuck is a Buckeye?
Couple rough play calls for the looks Georgia showed there. As limited as Quinn was, he had played a lot of ball and was adept at getting into a good play at the LOS. I gotta think that Arch will be strong there - that trait is as endemic to the Manning family as any other. As things slow down, he won't miss a ball like Golden running wide open on that last play either. Tough to watch, but I'm sure the kid has seen these cutups thousands of time. Expecting an entirely different guy out there Saturday morning.- 2026 QB Dia Bell
