  1. If she wins, she deserves the nomination and Democrats deserve what happens in the election, either way.
  2. You are wasting your breath. Despite ample evidence that this administration, time and time again, does not respect the second amendment or the constitution except as a election season talking point or to further their culture war (like Kyle Rittenhouse), most of the people on this thread would rather twist themselves into a pretzel defending the disarming and killing of a legal gun owner on the street than criticize a Republican on gun policy. Once a brain gets washed it’s hard to un-wash.
  3. It is. Right now it’s exposing his team’s weaknesses. If he adjusts that’s good. If he doesn’t, he goes into the general with those problems and can’t win anyway.
  4. Crockett isn’t actively campaigning and her surrogates are annoying and whiny. Talarico is actively campaigning but his campaign is boring and insipid, and he’s already dropped the dumbest quote of the race. It’s tough to find a favorite. I started on Team Talarico but his campaign has been such a paint by numbers exercise to this point I’m not sure.

  6. This is an extremely elegant strategic play if they do it.
  7. And stupid. Because “the center” is not a thing.
  8. Now that’s the good shit. That’s the energy Texas Democrats need.
  9. Totally agree. And I don’t want Republicans to lose that momentum. “Stop murdering people” and “no more masked thugs” or even just “fuck ICE,” is MUCH stronger and more aggressive than “abolish ICE.” I agree, but we need to be talking about people’s lives and liberty right now, not bureaucratic functions.
  10. Just to be clear, and I mean no offense here: if you actually think Democrats are losing because they didn’t keep saying “defund the police” you are completely delusional. I don’t know where you grew up, but I grew up in a majority minority neighborhood next to a trap house. We needed more police, not less. They didn’t care about my friends or me when we got burglarized all the time because the neighborhood burglar was a snitch. We wanted cops, just good ones instead of the guys who didn’t come when we called. Did you know that 3/4 of black adults think police funding should stay the same or increase? But not like black people are important to, uh … the Democrats.
  11. It must be nice for you to have the privilege of correct words and thoughts. The rest of us need to win and to do that MAGA must be destroyed. Democrats can’t “project strength” from where they are right now, because they are not strong. It rings hollow and nobody is buying. They need actual strength and to get it they need to wave the bloody shirt. Exactly. Great post.
  12. Agreed. Needs fewer words and an angrier tone but this is well defined and makes MAGA the problem.
  13. I said Democrats would win the first shutdown and they did. The path to victory is much narrower here. This has “defund the police” style brand trap written all over it. A heavy majority of the voting public still wants aggressive immigration law enforcement and probably also supports mass deportations of illegal immigrants who are also criminals. Republicans are losing the argument because the face of their project right now is a dead white lady and a five year old in cuffs. And pretty soon you’ll add a forcibly disarmed gun owner. That’s a bad setup for Republicans. But people still want Immigration and Customs Enforced. And if Democrats make this about “Abolish ICE” instead of a punchier and more motivational version of “stop the chaos,” they could very well wind up on the losing end of this.
  14. Of course not. Come on man. This is about winning, period. We are in a fight for our literal lives and EVERYTHING Talarico and Crockett does needs to be about winning. How they talk, behave, dress, what they do and what they say. Nothing else matters. They workshopped that line. A room full of people looked at hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of private polling (because even though it’s usually identical to public polling Texas Democrats more or less only exist these days to support bad consultants) and that dumbass line was what they came up with. Everyone who was in that room should be fired. His campaign sucks. It’s boring, milquetoast bullshit. Who the fuck to these candidates and their teams think they are talking to? No wonder they didn’t publicize this debate. Jesus Christ.
