Re: Bartlett - fiat money is not "an asset with no risk of default". US Debt (size) doesn't matter until it does. It can grow as long as the world has faith that the US has the ability to service the debt. It's another soft (undefined) limit that we will eventually find out after much fucking around. Catastrophic system design. BTW, the no default risk asset Bartlett is looking for is gold. That's why central banks own it.
Debt ceiling issue in the rear view mirror now should relieve pressure on all markets. If inflation looks tamed and there isn't pressure on the Fed to raise rates again, metals should find some strength for another move up. But if inflation data continues to be a mix of good/bad news, I expect metals to trade more or less sideways. $.02
I have watched a good bit of the various K dramas on Netflix. Stranger was the most challenging series and 2nd place is not in the same ballpark. The plot is great. The characters are multi dimensional with some good and some bad so it retains some mystery. But the real challenge is remembering all the Korean names for the huge cast. Seems like every episode I was struggling to remember who folks are talking about in the show.
My brackets turned to hot steamy poop, but I didn't care. Much strategery and carnage. I was entertained.
That tall, blond dude on team Sawblaze cracks me the fuck up. It's like he lazily looks around the room for a random victim to consume their soul with his eyes.
I fully expect Ethan Kurtz to return next season and brag that he was undefeated this season.

Second day in a row that I get a very common letter pattern and have many words to guess until I hit the lottery.

Bottom left on Sequence was very tricky today.

Potentially huge ramifications for the Biden administration's war on crypto.
I forgot I had started this thread. I never posted the follow up (to the OP) a few weeks later:

Wow. Round of 32 part 2 was the best episode of the season by far. Only a couple of boring matches and a lot of excellent fights. I shit the bed on my bracket picks going 3 for 8, but I'm not complaining.
Victoire appears to be deathly afraid of spicy peppers. She might faint at the sight of a jalapeno. She had no chance succeeding at any challenge featuring Indian, Thai or even Mexican food among many other international cuisines that embrace the heat. You can't be a top chef if your repertoire is that limited.
Yeah, we watched Man called Otto lat night. Pulls on the heartstrings even though not everything in the movie really worked (too slow in parts, too hokey in others).

Maybe something good will come from this saga. It's a start, anyways:
