I Mean, it’s a Saturday special election, so it’s important to not over read outcomes…. But if R+ 15-20 seats are in play, you’re talking 50+ seats in the house and every GOP Senate seat where a Democrat has managed to win a Governorship in the last 8 years are now at least theoretically on the table.
Haven’t left my fourth floor condo all day in DC. 5 inches of snow, another couple of sleet. Starting to transition to frozen rain. One bowl of chili down, Wine open, trying to stay awake during this AFC championship.
@Chewbacca I don't know about you, but I will absolutely get fined by the city for iced over sidewalks. Good luck getting Homeowners Insurance the second time after paying out a slip and fall. I get it, in theory, a properly shovelled and swept side walk shouldn't need much ice melt. But you go through rapid melt freeze cycles and it can get pretty tiresome chipping off ice to keep that one down hill patch dry. And what the fuck do I care if I spall the sidewalk in front of my house?
Well, and I can speak to this from experience, the Europeans can get their meeting to set an agenda before the conference to establish an outline of a working group with the best of them.
Yeah, he's talked about the battleships two days in the row. He's obviously very turnt up for that. He went off on it for 5-7 minutes yesterday. That's the annoyting thing about his public speaking. It's nearly impossible to sit through, but you can absolutely get a sense of what garbage is bouncing around in his head on his tangents.
I will say, and this is thin gruel, but I watched the press conference and about 3/4 of his speech today, and apparently he now understands that Rare Earths aren't rare and processing them is the problem.
To tighten up your analogy, we start using the backyard pool and grill again, but we also notice that the neighbor has put bars and locks on his windows and covered patios. And increasingly, he doesn't come outside and hang when we are there, but instead is having really interesting looking parties inside his screened locked patio and house with guests who speak a lot of Mandarin and seem to be kinda rich. Also, our other neighbors are invited to the parties, but we never are.
I used to work with a guy (and I'm downtown DC) who said "If the nuclear sirens go off, I'm walking to the liqour store, buying a bottle, and going straight to the White House. Not going to feel a thing." 100% spot on.
I'm going to try and finish of winter prep this afternoon but I think with the advanced warning on this storm, the stores are going to be a shit show even Wednesday night in DC. I'm in a condo now, so don't really have to worry about shovelling. It's just dealing with lost power and easy cook meals.
My standard Maine advice: It's the stopping, not the going, that will kill you in snow/ice. Four wheel drive doesn't mean shit if you have all season tires instead of winter treads. Shovel often, not all at once; stretch, hydrate, and take breaks-Shovelling will absolutely unalive you. Salt after you have cleared your walkways. And of course, ever green disaster advice: make sure you have toilet flushing water.
