The check purposely whited out to just show zero had me laughing
Also another blue chip Californian (top 100 junior ITF) verballed to UT this past week- I think for the 2021 season!
Seeing as the women's team just got a junior slam doubles champion, looks like the men's team had to get one too. Spizzirri just won the US Open Juniors doubles tournament. He's also the number one rated recruit on Tennis Recruiting.
Looks like recruiting hasn't slowed down since Berque got hired. Class of 2020 has three Top 10 recruits! Wonder if we're also targeting Armilli's younger brother who for two years was also a blue chip recruit.
Not officially a UT athlete yet, but Nagy just won a 25k dubs title. Really hoping with her addition the doubles lineup will stabilize and won't be a weak point
Hate to say it but lots of tennis does come from parent's financial support. I've known friends just at the national level spending around $20,000 a year on the sport. Not going to be specific but there have been quite a few players at Texas in the past two decades who come from well off background and are able to play ITFs making their prep results quite impressive. On the flip side, there have also been other players that aren't as accomplished due to limited resources before they've come to Texas and have excelled.
With Nagy, I'm cautious to say but I think she's getting support from her national tennis federation- due to having played Fed Cup and having an Olympian parent.
Nagy played ITF 15K back in Hungary and reached quarters, including an impressive win over a Finnish opponent who has won 2 ITFs this summer.
Bianca beat All American Lauren Proctor in California this week.
I just want to temper your expectation for Iosia setting the middles in college. I know Hahn also did that while she was in high school too. Even now when she can overhand set as a DS all her sets are going to the OH.
Anybody know what's the specific rule with Micaya's foot fault?
When Sha'dare McNeal served earlier this decade, she started her approach well outside the lines.
Oh wow Joffe does have a huge recruit- Adrienn Nagy (according to twitter). Top 30 Junior ranking (this is higher than Bianca's career high) BUT most importantly has big doubles results. Current Junior Australian Open and Orange Bowl doubles champion. Also a semifinalist at this year's French Open. Represented her country in Fed Cup. Currently competing at the US Junior Open. Mother was also a professional tennis player.
Sigh..... Markovic transferred to Hawaii.
Granic also missing from the roster. Don't know why. She gave an interview to a Croatian website just last month.

If Google translate is working correctly, she was talking about playing the $15k tournaments in the fall when she got back and sounded excited to be finishing her marketing degree here.
Let's hope there's some second semester freshmen Joffe is working to get over here.
Rumor is he's going pro. Heard rumblings that he switched his commitment from TCU to Baylor because of the Baylor-Oracle connection allowing him to get WC's to a bunch of challengers. With >$100K prize money, top 300 rankings, and now the USTA teen poster boy, there should be no need of those Oracle WC's.
It's only been last three, four years serving has been bad.
Up til 2016, Texas had a pretty good ace to errors ratio and most of the serves weren't lollipops. The only bad regular server I can remember would have been Dalton.

Fellow class member Evin McDonald placed third in the same event
Another week and another doubles runner up for Anna (this time with an OU partner)! 😊
Both twins are also in their singles finals tomorrow. Bianca should have a new career high ranking regardless of the outcome of tomorrow's final.
Anna just won a pro title with friend and Florida State player Touly in Tunisia! Also made semis in the singles.
Bianca played in a higher tier tournament and also had a good showing
