Is this sarcasm? I assume it's not because you generally seem humorless. But it's a particularly ironic post considering Texas's two RB targets so far in this portal cycle have failed to enter the portal for those big dollars.
To be fair, Arch Manning did a pretty great fucking job of wasting last season for about oh, 7 games. 6 out of the first 7 games, plus the first half of Miss St. There were other problems with this team, obviously, but an average performance, just average, by Arch against Ohio St. and Florida, probably wins us both of those games.
This is the dumbest, most thoughtless and uninformed post you've made yet. Literally nothing will cost Sark this job other than Steve Sarkisian. And by Steve Sarkisian, I don't mean missing some portal targets, I mean a complete implosion of himself and the team. Oh, I see, you're living in fantasyland and are completely unmoored from reality. Disregard my previous post, despite it still being true. Listen, I've heard of this place called Orangebloods, you might be a fit there. Or the football board here.
Indiana has signed 2 guys, one of which isn't a position we're chasing. And your view of the portal, like most people here, is like looking at the tip of the iceberg and being completely clueless that 80% of it is beneath the water. The amount we spend on retaining the roster so guys don't portal out is astronomical. We're paying six figures to plenty of kids out of HS who haven't even seen playing time, but everyone here would shit their pants if Justus Terry or Tyler Atkinson fucking bailed on us. As for "Being the Joneses" what a tired trope. With 20 million dollars, even shitty programs can flex up some money and save some of their best players if the kid is happy there otherwise. But not paying Wisner 1 million from 750, or moving Livingston up from whatever he was making to 800k, and suddenly we're just poor little ole' Texas getting outspend. It's so fucking stupid. This guy has a lot more speed than Wisner. I'd say it's great that we're not in the market for a fucking QB?
If 99.9% of the football players aren't doing to take his offer, it sounds like this fucking guy isn't going to be out all that much money after all...so I guess he's just a bitch. I'm guessing the real problem is he named his newborn Parker.
Yup, my life is horrible and I’m miserable. Whatever you’ve got to tell yourself so you don’t have to be accountable for your own shitty takes and beliefs. I’d tell you that my life is pretty damn great but you wouldn’t believe me anyway.
You think Livingstone was told he was 6th after Moore declared, and we haven’t signed anyone in the portal? You think we told him he was behind locket, French, and shitty AF mccutcheon? Our exiting depth insists he’s third. You’re making shit up out of whole cloth. 16 people didn’t enter the portal because they wanted more money. 12 dudes entered the portal because they knew they’d never have playing time worth a shit at Texas, like say Jerrick Gibson. 4 guys entered the portal because they wanted more money than we think they’re worth. You’re on the football board, not the recruiting board. But claiming the football board as the smartest board in surly is surely a take .
Except that multiple sources have the same story and supporting evidence, including notoriously conservative and tight-lipped Bobby Burton, and the other person is pissed off Parker Livingstone. but I’m sure the coaching staff and 995 world and NIL support staff and the collective are all just pushing an agenda of some sort. Still waiting for someone to explain to me why we’re all going to all the trouble to push whatever this agenda is. But I’m sure that’s the ticket.
How am I a 995er? Are you under the impression I make a living by covering Texas football? I assure you, I do not. You’re right, the chain of command doesn’t report to anyone. And, by your own admission, if there was nothing to work out then the conversations about the ask never would have taken place. No one would have heard a thing. And yet… Anyway, you’re going to believe whatever you want to believe to support the conclusion you’ve come to, so I’m done wasting my time.
Are you suggesting the coaching staff is lying about Parker’s request? That they’ve lied to one fund to push whatever you think the narrative is they want to push? That they willy nilly risked pissing off Manning by cutting bait on his roomie when they guy wasn’t asking for more money at all? When all the staff had to do was pay him what he was making now and then bench his fucking ass next season, but they instead did all this to…accomplish what exactly?
Weird, I read the same tweet you did and I don’t read any of that as “pushed out.” I read that as “I’m not appreciated the way I think I should be so I’m leaving.” I certainly didn’t read the words “pushed out” in there. You’re reading what you want to read. Texas One fund is in constant communication with agents and the coaching staff and discussing available funds, allotment, needs, etc. They have to be, because yes, they write a lot of these checks. Before the 20 million dollar allotment, they wrote ALL of the checks. This is literally Brandon Harris’s job. They or their agent ask for an amount, and then everyone has a conversation.
Please don’t speculate what I was told or by who. You’re insisting on the finality of your narrative without knowing jack shit about who I know and who I speak with, and you got upset with another poster about making assumptions about what you know. Now you’re doing the same thing. For the record, there is an entire organization responsible for actually writing a bunch of these checks and negotiating all the player deals. It’s called Texas One fund, maybe you’ve heard of it. Before that it was called Horns With Heart. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Some of us around here literally founded it. Some of us around here might know some shit.
Here’s the thing, you’re not the only poster here with access to inside information. Maybe some of us know exactly what Livingstone’s ask was for NIL. I didn’t want to lose the guy. But I also don’t want to pay him 800k. I didn’t want to pay Moore his absurd ask either. To be frank, I also am unconvinced Wingo is worth his fucking money either, but I don’t make those decisions.
I don’t the validation from you, one of the most rock-headed shit posters in this site, to know what Campbell is doing with regards to NIL. It’s an open thing because players and recruits talk to other people about what and how they’re being paid. It’s also no secret about why he’s financing all the commercials about college NIL reform so he can stop having to bankroll Tech into relevance, speaking of LITERAL politics.
I generally like your football takes, and honestly most of your takes on surly as an overall poster, but you’re bordering on pimphand level conspiracy thinking on this one.
We spent a lot of money on French, Terry, and Lockett. And wingo. And Mosely. It might actually be about the money. Especially when the guy you recruited to be the low dollar depth piece who loves Texas and wants to be here asks for WR1 money. Dante Moore also asked for WR1 money, and we paid for it last year but noped out of doing it again after we saw what it got us.
Comparing Conception’s signing to Cam Coleman is certainly a choice. Conception was a great evaluation, and a great get for aTm, and he had a great season. But his price was noooooooowhere near what Coleman will command. I’m sure there were other schools in pursuit of Conception but I sure as shit couldn’t name them. If aTm signs Coleman I’ll laugh my ass off because it means they paid him an obscene amount of money. And if we sign him, great, it means we paid an obscene amount of money full well knowing we can afford it. We can’t lose.
I have to say, getting two guys that played together at Michigan might go a long ass way to remedying whatever the fuck it is Flood has been doing at OL. Hopefully they actually had the false starts coached out of them and we won’t have to hear idiots making excuses about an OL needing to “gel” and “learn to play together” through six games of the fucking season.
