Hey Steel Shank!
You're a pro's pro. Toasting the top of the top bun and all.

Underrated or ignored albums you think are incredible
Great writing is Smooth Max's strength, and it's prominently displayed from stem to stern here imo.

Tell Me About Texas a&m
Your idea of fat and mine are different my friend.

Hey Steel Shank!
I have not but I will. I judge BBQ joints by brisket, beef ribs and beans. So far Hutchins gets a B+/A- on brisket and beans from me.

Hey Steel Shank!
As a McKinney resident, I appreciate this post. All the way down to the CostCo paper plates.

Things you're a little bit embarrassed to admit
For sure. I can't think straight enough to vote unless the pipes are clean.

Hey Steel Shank!
Lots of Texans up in here too. It's no coincidence.

Barry Switzer is on the other side of the bar.
Yeah I'd be over there getting hammered with him. OU sucks forever and always but Switzer seems like he'd be fun to get hammered with and I'd love to hear the stories.

So the CMA awards are on tonight
100% this. And Buck Owens has some bad ass music.

So the CMA awards are on tonight
Because he wrote all of the truck in the mud songs and got so rich that he can afford to play his stuff. If Isbell had done the same I don't think he would have the same appeal because he doesn't give a shit about that. He just wants to play his music and make a difference socially, which Nashville generally doesn't approve of.

So the CMA awards are on tonight
Thanks for clearing that up spystud. I was confused. But yeah Maren certainly did the money grab and Kacey does her own thing. And it ain't just her and Sturgill telling Nashville to fuck off. The anti-Nashville movement has been around for a long time but it seems this new crop of talent is actually getting some traction. Nowadays artists like Sean McConnell, Nikki Lane, Amos Lee, Jason Eady, Courtney Patton, Margo, Jamie Lin Wilson, Hayes Carll and Ryan Bingham can have damn good careers without going full Nashville. And by "new" I mean starting to get noticed. Most of these artists have been around quite some time but are only recently getting radio play.

Like Mezcal? A friend is doing a tasting
Is the mezcal still free on Sonora's Death Row?

We should discuss "The Band Perry"
No we shouldn't. All of the songs I've heard from them are about dying. And not the good songs about dying like Slipknot or Static X would sing.

So the CMA awards are on tonight
Nah, she's anti "country music" establishment. Doesn't do radio interviews much and her music is certainly liberal compared to traditional Nashville crap. She doesn't really give a shit. I'd still rather listen to Margo Price though.
- RIP ETC

Things you're a little bit embarrassed to admit
I like Halsey. Fire away, assholes.

Hey Steel Shank!
There's a fairly new Brookshire's in Anna. We go there quite a bit since we're in extreme North McKinney and the in-laws are in Melissa. There's also one on 35 just outside of Waco and 1 on 77 between Waco and Rockdale. They may be scarce but not out of business.

Abilene- is there any reason at to leave my hotel room?
The wife (no pics) is from there, as are her parents. Her grandparents and great grandparents were also from there. Perini's is certainly bad ass but if you're too drunk to make the trip Lytle Land and Cattle Co. Isn't terrible. But if you're looking for your best life in Abilene just head to the ACU campus and find a Church of Christ "virgin". They're all fake blonde, from DFW and definitely dtf. That's why they all get married at 22.

What Was The First Ever Album You Bought on Your Own?
Pos rep for Geneis. According to my parents Phil Collins was the first musical artist I could identify by name when I heard his songs. They say I was 4 the first time I heard his voice and said, "that's Phil Collins." I'm going to see him in Dallas in Sept.

I am Christian, God-fearing man, but God Damn that is my jam right there. The Zapp's Spicy Crawtator chips take it to 13.
