  1. He really is perfect for aggy, claiming hypothetical domination of contests in which he didn't participate.
  2. Every year until this one. Jimbo notoriously mismanages this position, and this year some cracks definitely started to show. Not sure they've done anything here to fix that. I know us talking about underperforming oline is ironic after this season, but at least we're making some progress with this class.
  3. There was a great pic this week of Worthy showing Stewart a screenshot of Demas season stats. That guy was considered a can't miss star receiver, and he's done shit in Jimbo's offense. Of all of Stewart's options, aggy makes by far the least sense, unless playing and production are secondary priorities.
  4. I like Stewart. He's an idiot if he signs at aggy given his talent and how they waste wrs, but if he's signing there he's sure as hell milking them for all that he can with these last minute tactics. Can you imagine the dumb money aggy would throw at him to avoid the optics on a five star recruit flipping to Texas on signing day? Either he'll flip to us, or he's making a paycheck play, in which case he might as well leverage their insecurity for every last dollar he can
  5. I appreciate Vance for who he has been to Texas, but if the thought is that adding Gary Patterson to our defensive staff could possibly result in a worse result than what we fielded last season, it's fucking laughable. Sure, you need to set it up well so that everyone knows their role, but if you have significant struggles on one side of the ball and a legit top 10 coach waiting in the wings, you don't say no to avoid a crowded room. If nothing else, Sark has to make this move in case PK starts next season like he ended this one. I know one season is quick to cut a coordinator, but the results were bad enough to suggest you need a safety valve. If he waits two full seasons to replace a failing coordinator hire, he'll be out after three years and we'll be hiring DC number 12 in the last 3 seasons, or something like that.
  6. It was always going to be an uphill battle swaying a talented wr once they're sold on playing in Jimbo's offense. I'm sure the entire recruiting pitch was just watching all 45 seconds of Demas career highlight reel. $ometime$ their pitch ju$t beat$ your pitch.
  7. I mean, I hope we will, but we didn't just go all out to land the #1 qb recruit not to throw the ball.
  8. Real question here, as I'm baffled by what's happening on defense and trying to understand possible reasons. When sark was hired, everyone noted it was fairly unusual that a bunch of defensive coaches were hired before the DC. Do we have defensive coaching staff that wasn't really put together in a complimentary way? I remember this being a big issue with Diaz and Akina...Akina was a great coach but not at all for Diaz scheme. Maybe our issues are more simple, don't have great talent, players aren't executing, scheme isn't great regardless of position coaching, but on paper this should be a good defensive staff. How are we diaz-level bad?
  9. They did a great job of decoying Bijan in the first half when they were dialed in on him. In the second, we just had him run right at them too much, and they were still dialed in. Not sure why we stopped using him to draw their attention and open things up.
  10. It's seven am Morning of Texas ou And ou still sucks
  11. They've always controlled their own destiny, they just run out of destiny.
  12. It legitimately is a bit like the North Korean press announcing a military exercise did not go quite as they planned. Anything less than sunshine means it's a fucking disaster.
  13. I mean, that update from tarp basically reads that way. They have conditions for king coming back and first is better protection. Think about that for a minute...king could be ready to come back, but Fisher tells Calzada they're riding with him until the oline is no longer likely to get the QB hurt. Wow.
  14. Tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if Jimbo actually wants this to happen. This is equivalent to Jimbo punting and running clock late in games so they only lose by 10 instead of 17. It's all about perception. Looch is already peddling that they'd be 5-0 with King. If more players opt out with "injury" it gets easier for Jimbo to keep spinning that at full strength they could've won it all this year. If they lose at full strength, the emporer is exposed. If they lose due to "uncontrollable freak circumstances" it's much easier to spin as bad luck. aggy would rather sabotage their own season if it means they can continue their narrative that the program is on the rise. Next is the year, same as its ever been.
  15. Lincoln Riley's top three reasons for wanting to move to the sec are: 1) Paul Feinbaum, 2) Paul Feinbaum, 3) the racism
  16. The problem with this plan is that the areas holding aggy back the most aren't the guys who would "up their play" for scouts tomorrow. The guys on that oline and calzada aren't suffering from lack of effort, they're just not very good (or not very good yet, for some of the young oline who might be players later). Maybe this works on defense and they play better, but they've not been awful on defense despite what Jimbo will tell you. They won at CO 10-7...defense isn't the issue. I see too many problems in critical roles on their team that won't be improved by guys "showing out for scouts." What's worse, if that's the mentality from the star players, those guys will completely fold once it's clear the game won't be competitive. Given Jimbo poked the bear with his "kick their ass" comments this summer, it will be interesting to see if Saban chooses to make a point once aggy gives up. Grab some popcorn, this could get ugly.
  17. I don't know, but I'm so glad they do. It's entertainment money can't buy (unless you count their $9m/year).
  18. On the upside, Todd Orlando wouldn't even have to move!
  19. It's cliche to say the winner in this game is the team who wants it more, but given examples like this it holds up. Plenty of years the teams should be much further apart on paper than how the game plays out. Now I'll wait for someone to make the obvious "who wants it more" joke about your mom.
  20. One subtle thing that's funny to note in texags propaganda these days is how much less they needlessly include "sec" in every sentence. Prior to the Texas/ou announcement, these things read like a madlibs where "sec" was used to fill in every blank. "Jimbo's sec offense is going to land us sec-ready studs who can survive the sec grind against sec defenses." They still use it now, but only in places where it makes sense, not obsessively. If nothing else, it shows that looch understands how to pander to that audience. The entire "people are weak" and "media has never warmed to Jimbo because he doesn't play their game"...you almost have to tip your cap to him because there's no way he actually believes this shit. He's just like Jimbo fake smiling as they hand him a blank national championship plaque. It has to be soul crushing to be permanently entangled with that level of desperation, but both of them have figured out how to monetize it well so you have to play along.
  21. Plus doesn't he lose a lot this year? Not jumping this year could mean another 2-3 years stuck with Jimbo. If I recall correctly Jimbo had a lot of staff turnover early based mostly on being an asshole to work with. Elko has to be watching that offense now and realizing last year was the best they're going to achieve. No reason to stick around now.
