  1. I don't feel like it should take three weeks to pack up an office, but if that's what it takes so be it.
  2. All fair, but just recognize that when your barometer of success/failure is making the playoffs, you've got some first class problems that we'd love to have. Also, whatever system he runs sure as hell seems to work.
  3. Should we just change the title to "gtfo" now? I think the winning part has been put to bed.
  4. Man, you're out of your element here, Donnie. What Texas fans wouldn't give for minor quibbles on player utilization on the way to a 12-1 record and #4 ranking to be the primary gripes we have about our coaching over the last 5 years. Rough life, I'm sure.
  5. Sigh. Mea culpa. If you don't think it could have been a serious question, though, I'd like to introduce you to our fan base sometime.
  6. Not sure if serious, but... If I remember right, he had some serious staff turnover to work through and also some investment issues we were committing to make good. Both of those are now resolved for him and we're a much bigger clusterfuck than we were then. Really no reason for him to make that jump. I have no idea if any of the above is at all true or pure 9.95 fiction, but I believe that was the story at the time.
  7. I would actually like to know what the statistics say about the likelihood of a coach with Tom's track record at this point in his tenure ever winning anything meaningful. CDC should call Herman in for a conversation and have a binder with those stats ready to reference. After all, you can't really argue with the binder.
  8. I'll contribute to anything we choose to go with, but the focus should be on ousting Herman, not Urban Meyer. I want Urban as much as anyone on this board, but don't conflate the issues. Herman needs to go.
  9. Honestly it was obvious when we couldn't push around utep. I rationalized it as us choosing to focus on breaking in a new receiver group, but clearly we're just incapable of moving anyone off the ball.
  10. They were also subbing in inexperienced guys in favor of trying to get more height against our receivers. The price you should make them pay for that is confusing their inexperience to create mistakes. Instead, we did nothing to make them pay for it, ran simple routes right at them, and allowed their height to offset the advantage we were hoping to create. I imagine both Grinch and Riley were shocked how much our strategy just played right into rewarding the risk they took.
  11. The given reason was a tweak in warm ups. It did happen the day after he supposedly wiped a bunch of Texas stuff from his social media. Who the fuck knows at this point.
  12. Because instead we can try for a low percentage 40 yard pass to Robinson on 3rd and 1 at a critical moment in the game, obviously.
  13. Imagine going 5 wide with Whittington, Moore, Smith, Eagles, and Schooler. Whittington can sub back to rb if needed, since he knows the position, or you could trade in Robinson and have him play rb or flex out where he's a reasonably good pass catcher. Sam can rush as needed, into lighter boxes thanks to the spread. I'm sure the main argument against this pass first approach is that our oline is swiss cheese, but how much have the extra blocking surfaces really helped with that? Also, is there a reason we hate trying to use screens, flushes, or misdirection to slow down the rush? They seem like such obvious solutions to our oline problems and yet we never really try them.
  14. He fixes the c̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ p̶l̶u̶m̶b̶i̶n̶g̶ Texas head coach?
  15. He should start asap, but only on evaluations and recruiting, nothing involving game coaching. By the end of this season, he'd know what he's dealing with from a staff and personnel standpoint, and have already impacted 21/22 classes. That's the best case scenario.
  16. I'm being serious, and there are some reasons starting Meyer right away would be a bad idea, but transfer portal fear feels really low on that list. Now, my opinion on this changes a ton if it's pretty much anyone other than Meyer. If it's him, it's to your advantage to announce it and get him involved asap. If it's not, you play things much differently/more cautiously.
  17. Eh, coaches have said they intend to stay with a school "for a long time" hours before being fired or taking a job elsewhere. What else can they say?
  18. Hey guys, we're firing Tom Herman and replacing him with Urban Meyer. No wait, please, don't everyone rush for the transfer portal at once. Isn't anyone going to stay?
  19. Can someone screenshot and send to cdc, just so he knows the plan?
  20. I'm not sure if you're joking or serious, but yes I've also seriously considered this as a reason he'd love to take this job.
  21. Maybe one of the reasons I'm hopeful on Urban is it feels like he's been dropping little hints that suggest he'd have interest here. Even just in the past few weeks he is on record saying he thinks Chris Ash was the best coaching upgrade made this off-season and that Texas has recruited well and has a strong roster but coaches are failing at development. Both of those comments seem to hint that he sees a ton of opportunity at Texas that is not being managed well. Then again, I'm probably just reading into this what I want to hear.
  22. A lot of top recruits want to stay in state but play for a championship caliber program. They currently don't have that choice. Give them that choice, and recruiting will take care of itself. Mack locked down the state for a long time because everyone knew Texas was dominant and many of the best in state kids wanted to be here. It slipped away somewhat with aggy inviting cheating into our back yard, but also because there was powerful negative recruiting about the state of our program. Until we get our shit fixed, it will stay that way.
  23. No one thinks we'll "roll over and go 3-7." Most likely we'll play like dog shit for 3 unwatchable quarters, fall into a big hole, then Sam will somehow play us back into the game late in the 4th before we let it slip away again in some heartbreaking fashion. That's how we'll go 3-7, in the most miserable, gut wrenching way possible.
  24. I think he did, too, and seeing how obviously unprepared we were tells me that he can't do this job. He knew the importance of this one, and we had nothing.
  25. LSU almost screwed themselves over by not firing Miles early enough.
