The thing with Jonah that will be hard to keep off the field with the way this roster’s constructed, is he is a LH bat with speed. He also goes up to the plate with a plan from the first pitch of the at bat. Against Cade Fisher on Friday in his first at bat he took 6 pitches on the outer third part of the plate, worked a full count, and ultimately got rung up on a borderline payoff pitch. Basically conceded the outer third and said if you can go out there and paint 3 pitches without coming inside to me I’ll tip my cap and walk back to the dugout. If you go up to the plate trying to hit everything you will windup hitting nothing. The fact that he understands that as a 17 year old who skipped his senior year of high school is impressive.

2025 SEC Baseball Thread
Jared Spencer has a 4.88 ERA in conference play. There is a lot more to evaluating pitching than ERA. No one on this board who has watched Texas would say Jared Spencer is our worst pitcher and yet right now the only one with a worse ERA in conference play is Dre. Arkansas lost a weekend starter two weeks into the season in Gage Wood who I believe they will get back soon. Caden Sorrell lengthened A&M’s lineup and has protected Kiel, LaViolette, and Henseler. A&M is a pretty dangerous team now. Combine talent with a group that has convinced themselves they are playing with house money and they have as good a shot as anybody. Thought they were dead after Kentucky. Nothing overrated about Arkansas, A&M has just finally woken up and are playing like the team everybody thought they were before the season.

A lot of humor in Billy talking about how easy it is to win at home while having the 3rd worst record at home in the SEC, ahead of only Missouri and Kentucky (who took 2/3 in College Station)

I’d be reluctant to start Kade on the weekend. His stuff plays a lot like Ace Whitehead, which is a big reason why last years staff decided to throw Lebarron against A&M instead of Ace. Kade has a really good role right now on Tuesdays pitching against lesser competition. As we get closer to the end of the season I could see them scaling Kade’s pitch count back so he is available out of the pen on the weekend If they do plan on skipping a start, start Flores and as soon as he starts to struggle turn the ball over to Max I hope we get an extended look at Moffett soon. I’d even like to see them give Moffett a Tuesday start
