Probably most schools are going to say to recruits "We're not going to pay you your first year. We'll decide after that if we want to make you an offer." I can see a lot of players not getting paid for their first two years. Ironically, these high school recruits, who were so excited about NIL two years ago, are going to be the ones who are making nothing much more than room and board. Because why would you, as a school, pay for a freshman when nobody else is? I guess I can see a few superstar recruits making some scratch.
