  1. I haven’t been to Keen’s since it was sold to Tillman. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s lost a step. For me personally, I would skip Sparks unless you are solely going for “old school NY vibes”. I think Tete d’Or and The Grill are much better pure restaurants. I also think Minetta Tavern I still a solid choice on the steak side/burger focused place. For a Korean “steakhouse”, Cote is still one of the absolute best. Yep, still one of my go to client lunch spots
  2. Lots of good recs in PW’s post, but you mentioned steakhouse, and outside of the classics like Keens, I think Tete d’Or is relatively new and very good. Happy to give other recs if you have anything in mind
  3. It depends on the firm and the partner, but it’s definitely a full time job. As you suggest, corporate partners are able to keep their toe in the game more so than litigators given the nature of the practice. For the example, the guy taking over for Karp (Scott Barshay) is and has been the most prominent public M&A lawyer in NY (and aggressively pursues new business, total pain in the ass as a competitor). There is no chance he’s giving up his practice to be an administrator. He’ll still be in the board rooms while a team of other partners do the nitty gritty.
  4. Not sure if folks outside of the New York corporate law community care about this stuff, but Epstein files just knocked off one of the most prominent managing partners in big law. Bloomberg has been dripping emails over the last week, and hit him with a kill shot article at 5pm. He stepped down/was forced to step by 8pm. Will still be an active partner (for now). One of our biggest competitors. 5. Cameron Winter is the most Park Slope thing that has ever Park Sloped.
  6. This is a tangent and not directed at our resident orthopedic surgeon, because I appreciate differing opinions on movies. But second screening is an epidemic when it comes to modern movie watching. It’s just an inherently flawed way to consume art in an active, coherent manner. OBAA, for example. There are two scenes an hour apart amassing no more than 8 seconds that tell the entire underlying arc of Perfidia. Scene 1, first hour, she and Leo are in bed with their newborn, the newborn is screaming and Perfidia looks exhausted and lost. Scene 2, last 5 minutes of the movie, flashes back to the bed with Perfidia and Bob cradling their newborn with complete joy. The dichotomy of feeling inside this woman whose identity has been lost. Ultimately, she fails and makes unforgivable choices. But absent those subtle moments, she comes across as a one dimensional person. Easy to miss while live posting hot takes on middle aged message boards.
  7. He’s listed on the Texas website at 6-5, 268, which I think is a bit light for defensive tackle and presumably why he jack this year. With his frame I assume he could reasonably grow into a 300 pound DT.
  8. Ms. 45 Abel Ferrara is King.
  9. Some excellent updates to this.
  10. Maybe. But let me tell you, when A.D. Mitchell caught a touchdown pass from Quinn Ewers in Tuscaloosa to slam the door shut on Alabama, I gave not one iota of a shit that both were transfers.
  11. Netflix revised it's offer to all cash. I'd say this drastically reduces Paramount's chances, although they do have a reasonable argument to WB's shareholders that $5.9 billion in extra cash is better than spinco stock. I think their only real chance is some kind of quid pro quo with the White House. https://about.netflix.com/en/news/netflix-and-warner-bros-discovery-amend-agreement-to-all-cash-transaction
  12. Scarr's is my favorite New York-style pizza in the city, but the classics like Joe's and Bleaker Street are also great for a slice. This is a good one. I used to live on Mott Street in my early days in the city, and The Dennis at Parisi was a common hangover cure after a long night out. Other sandwich options that are downtown-ish but not Chinatown: S&P (best tuna melt in the city), Court Street Grocer's, Cappone's Italian (this is a new-ish place, no line or tik tok bull shit, just delicious italian sandwiches with Peroni on draft), Fonty's (Indian sandwiches, sounds strange, but they rock).
  13. Hope you brought your snow boots :) If you give us some parameters about where you are staying/where you want to be, we can give some suggestions.
  14. Two first time watches for me that I've been saving for years for some reason. To Live and Die in L.A. - A Dafoe masterclass in a movie I otherwise liked but didn't love. The car chase is great except for the fact that it takes Dafoe's character off the screen for 20 minutes. Kino Lorber's 4K was good not great (picture quality was pretty good but the audio kinda sucked). Barry Lyndon - a masterpiece. Hilarious throughout despite the deliberate pacing, except for the last 25 minutes or so which I found very effecting. Cinematography just phenomenal. A+ for Criterion's 4K disc.
