  1. Two first time watches for me that I've been saving for years for some reason. To Live and Die in L.A. - A Dafoe masterclass in a movie I otherwise liked but didn't love. The car chase is great except for the fact that it takes Dafoe's character off the screen for 20 minutes. Kino Lorber's 4K was good not great (picture quality was pretty good but the audio kinda sucked). Barry Lyndon - a masterpiece. Hilarious throughout despite the deliberate pacing, except for the last 25 minutes or so which I found very effecting. Cinematography just phenomenal. A+ for Criterion's 4K disc.
  2. Feels like not enough tackles.
  3. Up until a few days ago, I would have said Talented Mr. Ripley, no question. Also has the benefit of being a terrific film. Now I’m afraid I might have to say Great Expectations (a very bad film)
  4. Seems like I can just keep recycling this meme
  5. My wife and I rotate movie night picks. For my night on Sunday, we watched the Arrow 4K of Deep Red (Argento, 1975). First time I’ve watched this since I was a kid, and I’d forgotten/not realized how nonsensical most of it is. But man that score is incredible, and there are a few moments where Argento turns on the magic and it all comes together. For those interested, it’s a beautiful 4K, although the lack of sound sync and occasional Italian dubbing is certainly distracting. For wife’s night last night, 1998 Great Expectations. Cuaron directing. Paltrow, Hawk, De Niro. Let me just say, this is not a good movie, but prime Gwyneth is a real risk it all proposition for me.
  6. There was no need to show us your screen saver.
  7. Say it with me: I hereby pledge that if the left tackle I’d never heard of until last night does not commit to Texas, I will not have a full blown meltdown and question the manhood of Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood.
  8. Seems to be much more of an interior line issue. Goosby was a 3 star Flood (presumably) identified, recruited and developed into a potential 1st round pick. Cam Williams was also a 3 star (obviously different circumstances there - everyone was after him and Cristobal and pancake factory saved the day). He didn't recruit Christian Jones, but Jones' improvement was nothing short of miraculous in his one year under Flood. I think Brooks has a lot of promise. He's even done decent with lower ranked interior players like Connor, Hutson and Robertson. None of those guys turned into All Americans, but all had decent careers compared to their ranking. Neto and Cruz were obviously big misses, and the story is yet to be written on some of the other underclassman.
  9. So Sark can have three fan bases screaming at him to figure out red zone play calling?
  10. Kyle Flood should kiss you on the mouth
  11. Watched the Dollars Trilogy for the millionth time, but for the first time on Arrow’s 4K discs. Absolutely incredible. When the score goes into overdrive in the final showdown, peak movie watching.
  12. Sir, you don’t understand modern recruiting. Trey Owens played this perfectly. He’s going to parlay Arkansas State into 8 figures. A Texas degree matters not.
  13. I went to a noon screening of Marty Supreme at the lower Manhattan Alamo yesterday. Bro beside me had his phone out almost the entire time. Screen was dimmed so it wasn’t really a bother, but I just don’t understand the choice to go to a movie and experience it in that fashion.
  14. And what if he plays and is in fact trash?
  15. You are never going to believe who else built two semi-finals teams
  16. Well he’s almost certainly going pro in something other than sports, so he might consider it.
  17. I question the long term economic analysis of trading a Texas degree with minimal comp for an Arkansas State degree with a few hundred K. I get that 20 year olds and their “agents” might make that decision, because math is hard.
  18. Love this review. I finally saw it today, absolutely ripped.
  19. Damn, wait until Mississippians find out that the Big Man Upstairs cares more about Miami football than Ole Miss football.
  20. You guys really don’t need to try this hard. It’s obvious the staff targeted and thought they were getting Brown, otherwise Bobby and Gerry wouldn't have been singing it from the mountaintops. It’s a miss in the modern age of roster building. Doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world, but a miss nonetheless.
  21. Well instead I’m not going to listen to any of it, because it’s impossible for a casual listener to know which podcast out of the 15 they’ve put out in 48 hours will deliver the most new information in reasonable amount of listening time. For me as a consumer, I would prefer they focus on quality instead of quantity. Perhaps other consumers are fine with the opposite.
  22. I am once again begging someone who knows Bobby and Gerry to teach them to moderate their podcast output. I know that they are the most informed outfit, so I go to their podcast feed this morning to get an update on the transfer portal while I make coffee and whatnot. Yesterday alone they released 7 podcasts ranging from 15 minutes to 1 hour and 50 minutes, all with transfer portal news in the title. It’s just insane and a complete deterrent to tuning in on a regular basis.
