Woman who was shot at Capitol attack has family suing like a mofo
She was entitled enough to believe she and her clan alone spoke for the majority of citizens....who instead value democracy and legitimate governments run by rule of law. Therefore she was “entitled” to the bullet she earned. I’m sorry for her family’s loss, but she tried to overthrow our government. Dont sue. Help form a foundation to expose radicals who indoctrinated her and educate others on how a democracy works. Make something good come from her stupid, self-absorbed death instead of blaming others to reap an underserved windfall.

Back Door Access to a Roth IRA
Correct- if your current 401(k) has decent fees and investment options, and will allow a roll-in that’s the play.

Depression, OCD, and whatever else ails you between the ears
Whatever you do- tell the gut level truth and don’t mince words. They can only work with the clay you put in the wheel. We are all broken people in a broken world and they know it. Allow them the chance to do the job for which you are paying. Signed- wasted $1000s trying to impress professionals and “win” therapy.

Nothing to see here -- just a town declaring a state of emergency before releasing body cam of police shooting!
Our society took a labor force already prone to abuse of power and over the last 20 years has outfitted them with military gear and weapons. What did we think would happen?

Any fishing recommendations for someone staying at Atlantis. DIL is trying to surprise son with a 1/2 day trip later this summer. I told her I'd be somewhat leary of using the Atlantis concierge to book it and she should consider a private booking. Any thoughts?

Lovongo is a cool place to go eat and hang out on the beach. Still a work in progress as far as the "resort" is concerned, but the food is great and it's an interesting set-up. https://www.lovangovi.com/

I'm An Alcoholic
That's heartbreaking. No doubt not just friends like yourself, but probably parents, kids, spouse(s) ex or otherwise being left to grieve and wonder why/how it could get to that. This makes me sick to my stomach. I'm so sorry.

Anyone heard of aoudad die-offs in the freeze? I may have asked before, but don't recall. Our aoudad near F'burg have been conspicuously absent from cameras since the cold hit. I would have assumed if any animal could withstand the cold, it would be those bastards, but I'm beginning to have my doubts. Only seen a few rams and no ewes since Feb. in places where we normally see herds on the regular.

No glass. No pics. They had the rifle with an original ask of $1800, but it appeared it had been marked down from there. I couldn't tell that it had ever been used and the action alone sells for 70% of that. MSRP on new production complete rifles shows to be around $3500 based on what I could gather, but I don't know who did what to that specific one. May not be a lot of demand for a long range thumper in Hoover, AL.

I was today's year old when I learned about Nesika Firearms and Actions. Stumbled across a complete gun on the used rack chambered in .300 Win Mag with a very nice composite stock. Rifle appeared LNIB and was well balanced. That action is a beast. I don't recall ever hearing about this outfit from Sturgis, but they appear to make some qualify stuff. After getting home I think either the shop doesn't know what they have, or they've had it a while and want to get rid of it. Anyone have one? Anyone want one? Nesika Firearms

Wives and the Stupid Shit They Say/Do
My wife loves adding me into conversations mid stream- conversations she’s been having in her head..... a long drive exposes this to a maddening level. Narrator- During a pleasantly silent part of a long drive.... Her: What were those two guys like? Me: What are you talking about? Her: I’m curious what they were like? Me: Again what are you talking about? Her: Sighing.... I was talking about the guys who came to the house to pick up stuff from the garage? Me: Ok, but we weren’t talking about that and it was 3 weeks ago. Rinse and repeat after every period of silence.

Another police shooting. This one in Columbus, OH
Excellent point!! When we had three networks and over the air broadcast news, ratings were important but were not the driver they are today. The advent of cable and the 24/7 news cycle created entertainment companies that provide news to generate ratings / revenue. Every one of them is seeking to elicit an emotional response to capture our attention for longer than they otherwise could. The horse is out of the barn and it’s up to the consumer to decide if they’ll take the bait.

Fastest way to locate Rios this time of year is to roll your windows down, open then slam shut your truck door. If he’s in the area a Tom will respond and you can start hunting him there.

AMMO THREAD
If "Storage Wars" can make as much money as that show does, a show about the "Ammo Wars" would be a hit. Following these cornballs around and showing them try and resell would be great. "Big Jessie scored big with his (2) 200 round packs of American Eagle 5.56 he then sold in the parking lot. His profit of $27 comes out to a whopping $0.39 per hour of work he spent chasing ammo this week." "Joe-Willy didn't fare quite so well, He spent $120 on 2 boxes of ammo he'd pre-sold on TXGuntrader.com, but he bought .300 Win Mag instead of .300 Weatherby Mag and now he has Karen from Vidor mighty pissed off because she already Venmo'd the money and it was an anniversary present for her husband/uncle."

Favorite Hot Sauce
It came to the mainland from the USVI so I gave them a pass on the labeling and am glad I did.

Unless its a less common variation, that's not a bad deal for either party. It would cost him more new considering taxes, shipping, FFL etc. and you wouldn't be leaving anything on the table. You probably have that or less in it I'd guess.

Favorite Hot Sauce
This was gifted to me and came from a roadside stand.. It's damn good. Interesting flavor and HOT. Not the kind of hot that makes you jump up, but the kind of hot that builds up slowly and stays with you a long time.

The Gun Owner’s thread
Yep - The Cheek article and the prior CMP disclaimer always pointed to 180 gr or less as a reliable safeguard to whatever risk there was (and the exact amount of risk is open for debate). That's always been my benchmark. Why they chose to now move their goal posts to 172-174 grain is curious. In reality, even shooting heavier loads out of a well lubed M1 is not going to cause issues in the vast majority of rifles. Plenty of gun show guys will bet their life that a single round of 200 grain ammo will instantly been the op rod of every Garand. That's just not the case. Something has happened somewhere that caused them to make this small but albeit significant change in their stated position. I don't really care other than the curiosity to know why.

The Gun Owner’s thread
Yep - that's always been their stance and the practice of most Garand owners. The rifle was built to fire the M2 Ball (150gr FMJ at 2740fps) or equivalent and that's what they have always recommended. That's what they have published in the past and referred any questions to their printed advisories. Something must have happened for them to send out a special email to everyone in their system. Maybe it's to reinforce the problems with heavier, higher pressure rounds to the newer owners, as their sales have been booming. I hope its that and not another scenario where someone pushed the envelope and got hurt. Some guys play with adjustable gas plugs to run higher pressure and try to prevent damage to the rifles, but that seems like a fools game considering the potential cost of a failure vs. the payoff of extra fps.

The Gun Owner’s thread
Not sure what prompted the CMP to send out an advisory but they did. Opinions on this topic vary, but the CMP is obviously as informed as anyone. I'd have to go to my old CMP manuals to see what was added / changed, but for the most part, this appears to still be in line with conventional wisdom from the majority of the shooters and what they have published before - The change may be moving the bullet weight down from 180gr.....as that number has always been stuck in my mind, but I could be mistaken WARNING! Dear CMP Family, The CMP advises to not use .30/06 ammunition in M1 Garands, 1903s, and 1903A3s that is loaded beyond 50,000 CUP and has a bullet weight more than 172-174gr. These rifles are at least 70 years old and were not designed for max loads and super heavy bullets. Always wear hearing and eye protection when firing an M1 Garand, 1903 and/or 1903A3 rifle. This warning is an update/addition to the Ammunition section in the Read This First manual enclosed with each rifle shipment (M1 Garand manual-page 6 and M1903 manual-page 10).
