Interesting take. Lamar is a bit taller. Both elusive and fast. Neither particularly big. Lamar ran a 4.34 and Vick ran a 4.33. 2 of the most electric QB with the ball in their hands I have ever seen.

Arch is probably under-rated as a running QB, but lets not compare him to Lamar Jackson. That is different level. Only guy I would compare Lamar to is Vick.

Hard to judge. Where is Arch playing behind the 2024 OL compared to the 2025 OL. Not to mention add in a 1st round WR to throw to. The 2025 offense was squarely on Arch. The issues at center and LG made it a nightmare environment for any QB. Multiple games with 70% pressure rates. At least the 2024 OL was solid in pass pro. 2025 OL was bad at everything. Then you had mediocre Rb production and inconsistent WR play. 5 drops in multiple games. The key for 2026 is not to have the same glaring holes, that force the QB to play well and drag along the rest of the offense kicking and screaming to a win.
  4. this is the issue. We are hyper-focused on every Texas mistake. This shit happens all the time. People can bitch about Banks, but that guy would be picked up in about 30 seconds if Sark let him go. Like I said above, I would be way more excited about Sark hiring an IOL coach than a new Special teams coach.
  5. You mean like returning punts for TDs to ice RRS or vs MSU to save the season from being a disaster?
  6. Why do have an issue with Special Teams? Texas has been ranked #15, #35, #3, #8, and #31 in his five years at Texas by FEI. He had 1 down year in the last 4 years and 2 elite units.
  7. Better question, why not both? There is no limits on coaches now. I believe I saw Alabama going with 2 OL coaches. We can bash Flood, but his work at OT has been great. His work on the IOL has been questionable. Does not have to Searles, but I would not be upset with a Kenny Baker type hire for the IOL to help Flood.
  8. He may, but the nice thing is he does not commit a lot of penalties. That is actually a pretty big deal. Baker is a better player, but he had 12 penalties. Hard to know the damage, but OL penalty is probably around an 80% chance the offense does not convert the 1st down or TD (lot of variables here, so that is me guessing). In the 2025 season, the Texas Longhorns offensive line committed 43 penalties, according to data shared by Sports Illustrated. This unit was the most penalized position group on a team that ranked among the most penalized in the nation. Assuming that is accurate, Babers said the Miami OL was #2 in the nation. AI is saying they committed 30 penalties. Texas had 159 drives in 2025. 27% penalty rate from just the OL on drives. I know everyone wants 95 Nebraska OL but just playing clean football and being solid on the OL would go a long way to improving the offense. People forget that an OL that just performs at a C level at all 5 positions consistently is a bad ass OL.
  9. Dylan Sikorski had 441 snaps last year and committed 0 penalties last year.

  11. I get this line of thought, but it really depends on if Coleman is as advertised. He is viewed as one of the best deep threats in CFB. IF we assume that he will require 85-90% of the schedule to keep a safety over the top of him, then this is huge change for the offense. Defenses are going to have to play their Safeties in a conservative fashion. Now add the 2 RBs, who are both home run hitters, and that will add pressure on defenses to play their safeties conservatively to take away explosives. The benefit to the run game is obvious. It should also open up the short to intermediate pass game. I would expect a lot of teams to play Texas like OSU did last year. They played light boxes and mostly over the top of the WRs. Arch was pretty terrible in that game. The other big factor was Texas run efficiently but did not punish OSU for those light boxes as they got 0 explosive runs. I think this OL will be better than the 2025 line and might come close to the 2024 OL is pass pro. They are starting 3 OTs that showed well in pass pro. Baker at a minimum will be Hayden Conner. Struggle to get movement, but one of the best Guards in the conference in pass pro (how fast they gel and pick up stunts is the risk). The other big failure from the OSU game that could haunt this offense is redzone and short yardage. Coleman could help in the way Lil Jordan Humphry and Colin Johnson helped Elhinger. Just throw it up and let Coleman go get the ball. Texas has not had that type of WR, since those guys (maybe Mitchell but I think he was at least a notch below). Short Yardage is probably going to be a continued issue though, unless Baker, a LG, and a RB steps up into that role. Masunas should help in short yardage, but how much is a legit question.
  12. I am disagreeing with "marginal upgrade". It is also 2 quality RBs. IF both were on the roster last year, we would not have seen Clark.
  13. Clark struggled most of the year. His vision was questionable. He put it together in the Bowl game. 7-21 vs SJSU... Baxter led in carrries 13-64 and Gibson 7 - 38.. Clark's 3 yards per was the worst by about 2 yards 7 - 32 vs UTEP... Simon took over in the 2H.. Clark was 3rd in carries. I am not sure he got a 2nd half carry 13- 62 vs SHSU (basically an FCS school)... Simon 5.6 per, Gibson 4.8, and Clark 4.8 Kentucky game he missed a big hole that would have been an explosive play and perhaps a TD. Did nothing vs Florida or Ark. Clark did great vs Michigan, but that was 1 game. You cannot compare that to Raleek Brook and Hollywood Smothers. Smothers 160-939. 5.87 per. Raleek 186 - 1141, 6.13 yards. Raleek Brown had an explosive run rate of 15.5% (#16 in nation) and forced 53 missed tackles. Smothers was at 15%, 38 forced missed tackles, and averaged 3.84 yards after contact for the season. Clark may become a great RB, but he is pretty unproven.
  14. Robertson and Jackson behind him.
  15. You can continue to do this every day, if you like. I am not sure the point of it. I would be feeling better, if Texas had gotten some experienced IOL from the portal. I also cannot say this OL will not be better than last year. Goosby, Baker, Robertson, and Siani should give you 4 competent blockers at a minimum. None are an obvious problem Robertson finished around 66 PFF for the season, which basically an average grade. Texas needs one of the kids on campus to step up at LG and be competent. We freak out but also forget the Indiana pulled their RT in the championship game. Might as well let it play out and see if there is quality player ready to emerge on the roster and save the whining, because it is accomplishing nothing other than making you a pain in the ass.
  16. It’s the law of the portal. Someone else’s shitty player is much better than any of your shitty players
  17. Cignetti raided that team when he left, begging the question why he did not bring Wyatt to Indiana.
  18. 12 personnel is the fastest growing personnel package in the NFL. You have focused on all the negatives and people will nod their heads, but it is growing for a reason. You add gaps for the defense to have cover. The true value is forcing the defense to get big and passing on those larger defensive personnel. Guy like Townsend is a complete mismatch vs a LB. The 6 OL package was one of the best personnel groupings for Texas a few years ago. They were extremely explosive throwing out of it. BIg reason was the additional OL could actually hold up in pass protection. That goes to personnel. IF the portal TE can do that, this formation’s value grows exponentially. I was a big proponent of spreading it out and getting the ball out last year, especially when LG was a turnstile. That might be the case again, but there is a world where the pass protection is competent and 12 is a valuable grouping. Why could it be of value? Texas will have 3 OT in the OL. Just being capable at LG should make for a solid pass protection group Cam Coleman and the RBs. ON paper it will be tough for safeties to play flat footed vs this group. CAm probably demands help over the top. The 2 new RBs are explosive. That should curb defensive aggression IF the MSU TE proves capable in-line blocker the run game should improve dramatically, essentially if Cam is demanding help over the top. Key for this to work is Texas developing a more physical culture (maybe Muschamp’s influence can be felt here) and developing a downhill run. They will run OZ, but developing something like DUO will go a long way.
  19. this is true, but it is also true 12 personnel was the best formation vs OU. I think fans get a little too into this at times. I think Sark realized that his 12 personnel was lacking a in-line blocking TE to be successful and that is why they focused early on bringing in Masunas. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the formation, if you have the personnel to run it. We will see if Masunas and Townsend have the ability to unlock it. Both are definitely willing blockers and physical. It could be derailed by a poor IOL, but we probably have to wait a bit to figure that out.
  20. Agree, I think he may play some 4i this season. He is a bit of wildcard in how they use him. I like the room. Only spot that takes some projection is NT. Texas did not have experienced natural 0 techs, probably why Muschamp's first pick up in the portal was a NG. and why I mentioned Sharma, who lab made for the spot. If he can give 20 snaps or more a game at the 0 tech, this defense will be very good and deep.
  21. Perhaps they feel they are now at a healthy roster finally. Lot of young players on the roster. Hero, Watson, and January got a lot of snaps. You bring in the Ark as big NG, which was a bit of a hole. I am guessing they feel good about the young DT's ability to contribute this year, especially Sharma. Given how many transfers Texas has taken the last 2 seasons and Baker's results, I am willing to give the coaches a pass on this.
  22. This is just disingenuous. By this logic every positional coach cannot be held accountable, because in the end it is all on Sark.
  23. Rumors the Raiders are trying to get Lamar Jackson for the #1 pick. Even the Raiders know this is a shit QB draft
