Your official hypothetical thoughts on the move : what will you miss, what are you excited/not excited about?
These two posts pretty much sum up my thoughts. I suppose whether or not you think that makes this a good move is subjective. And maybe from the perspective of power/money/Texas Football, Inc. it is. But personally, I'm not excited about this move at all. I hate basically everything about it other than playing Arkansas regularly again.

Now THAT is a dodge.

The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult
Yeah, I was totally dodging that sick burn referencing a sign in a random Texas town that was removed over half a century ago. You caught me.

The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult
Custodians would have been cool. It’s 1) alliterative 2) maintains the -dians ending (which seems to be the only criteria they considered) and 3) reflects the only occupation most residents of Ohio are qualified for.

New SEC divisions and pods thread (Page 38 starts recent discussion)
If you really don't support a system where you can't duck anyone, then you should want to stay in the Big 12.

Senate Dems propose requiring women to register for military draft
No one should have to register for the draft. But if you’re going to require it of men, then it should be required of women too.

New SEC divisions and pods thread (Page 38 starts recent discussion)
Kentucky has more conference wins in the last 5 seasons than Mizzou, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, or South Carolina.

Also known as every season of the Big XII South. What a novelty.

Realignment talk not going away
I always thought that too. Now I’m trying to reconcile that with entering the SEC. It doesn’t really work.

Realignment talk not going away
I hate this idea.

You’d think the “default” theme would be on by default if you’d never charged it. You’d be wrong.

Latest GOP cancel culture: revisiting the Alamo
Which is why it wasn’t an argument against the book.
-
Latest GOP cancel culture: revisiting the Alamo
That may not be what the book says, but it is what the authors said in an interview.

Fat People
I get encouraging people to make healthier food choices, but lamenting ice cream being sweet kind of loses the thread for me.

Latest GOP cancel culture: revisiting the Alamo
Did it? As a wise man responded early on, “I have no idea what we’re supposed to discuss.”

Fat People
I was thinking his positive reinforcement might be what’s keeping them fat.

Latest GOP cancel culture: revisiting the Alamo
I haven’t read the book yet either, but there was some brief discussion of it on another thread recently. Revising the mythical version of the Alamo (and the “Texas Revolution” more generally) so that there’s an understanding that slavery was one of the causes is good; the authors seemed, however, based on an interview with them, to go too far to make their idealogical point, arguing (paraphrasing) that Santa Anna was a good guy who just wanted liberal democracy to flourish if not for these white dudes in Texas (ignoring that multiple other Mexican states were in rebellion against his tyranny). At any rate, there should be free and open discussion of scholarly ideas without politicians getting involved.
