  1. I've spent a lot of time recently looking at watches for my next purchase. While my next purchase will likely be a GO Seventies or Cartier Santos ADLC XL, I've had the chance to look at the AT on several occasions and it is an AMAZING watch and will be something I get in the future. The dial, especially on the slate, is gorgeous (easily my favorite) and the teak/plank look really adds a lot of depth, especially with the varying width of spaces (every 3rd gap is slightly larger). I don't particularly like the wavy lines on the Seamaster but these straight lines are a perfect visual compliment. The subtle sunburst effect across the planks is understated and really makes for a beautiful dial. The faceted, applied markers are extremely light-catching and really create a dynamic visual display in light. The lyre-style lugs are a thing of beauty and are more interesting than more standard lugs. The pop of blue on the seconds hand and cardinal points on the chapter ring just tie into the overall watch and give it a little more casual vibe. The 8900 movement is second to none at this price range and is gorgeous to look at through the caseback. I've been looking at the 41mm because I have larger wrists (7 5/8). 41mm is typically an ok size for me, but can look a little small on certain watches. Not the case with the AT. The proportions are dead on. Doesn't look too diminutive for what is essentially a steel sports watch. The 38mm will probably look better on wrists 6.5" and below, but its all personal preference. Two downsides. The polished bezel will show a lot of dings/marks. I wish they would consider a brushed bezel. I also saw a video comparing the AT with the Globemaster. I've never really considered the Globemaster before (and still don't because its too small). However, the latest GM is really a great looking watch and it uses a Tungsten bezel. If they could use a polished (non-fluted) tungsten bezel to prevent marks from day-to-day wear, it would be perfect. Even in steel, a brushed bezel would be better imo. I think the dial and markers more than make up for the loss of "bling" from the high-polished bezel. The other downside is it does not come with a quick-adjustment on the clasp. I have this on a few watches and its invaluable. I know Omega isn't as big on this as some other brands, but they really need to consider an on-the-fly microadjust feature on their bracelets/clasps. Also, considering the AT looks great on a variety of straps, a quick release option would also be a great addition. I guess one final comment would be that the slate dialed small seconds version looks even better with the color appearing slightly more silver/metallic and including a white chapter ring. I like the sub seconds, but would actually prefer the color scheme of the subseconds on a regular AT. My $0.02, but I will definitely own an AT in the future. Nearly a perfect every day watch for almost every situation. One of the most underrated watches ever since it is often overlooked for the Speedmaster or Seamaster Diver which are also amazing watches. For the money, its a great deal compared to other options.
  2. Sexting...It isn't sex its the next big thing. Brilliant. White Woman's Instagram is such a fantastic song.
  3. Thanks, PM sent
  4. So I tried out the Santos Large ADLC and the XL ADLC Chronograph. At my wrist size, the XL I think looks better. And I'm a sucker for a chronograph. The Large looks great too, just not quite as good as the XL Chrono. Unfortunately the XL Chrono only comes with the rubber and leather strap options. No steel bracelet like the large. The straps are definitely nice and even if I had the bracelet I'd switch it up alot. That said, I really like having a bracelet and if the XL had one, I'd definitely go with that. But for that much money I'm worried that not having a steel bracelet is going to bug me. I've been wanting a GO Seventies for a few years, which is how I got dragged into this squarish case shape obsession for my next watch. Unfortunately there are no GO dealers in or near Houston. While I know I won't be disappointed with the GO, I don't know that it is worth the premium over the Santos, which I know I really love other than no bracelet.
  5. Sounds like their plan to hold supply in 2021 will pay off down the line. Any target price for UUUU?
  6. I don't have as many shares as HS, but I have enough to retire if it goes that high.
  7. So Amy to $100? I think that's what I'm reading.
  8. My 11 year old got the first one this weekend and had no side effects other than a sore arm. Went to Walgreens and gave her birthday as a year earlier. They already had her in the system with her correct birthday and said she's not 12. I just told him the year was 2009, not 2010. He changed it and gave her the shot, no other questions asked. Hey birthday was in April, so not quite 11.5, but she definitely passes for 12 or 13.
  9. Wow, that's pretty cool. Pictures?
  10. Never really considered Cartier, but absolutely love this Santos.
  11. Just saw this. Sold because we could get alot for it, didn't go often enough for the amount of effort it took to coordinate everything like maid service, yard service, repairs, maintenance, etc.. mostly my fault due to work. We also had gotten where we need something larger because our kids have gotten older and wanted to take friends.
  12. Yeah, Eggs Mexicana with a bunch of tortillas was almost a must on the way home from 6th. I haven't eaten there but a handful of times in the last 10 years, but the last time I went about a year ago I took one bite of a quesadilla and had to throw it away. Disgusting.
  13. So if I get "hit" for having a few bathtub pics of my sister's kids she sent me and the algorithm needs to learn those are not child porn I'm guessing there is some sort of manual process which results in some apple employee going through all of my pictures to ensure it is, in fact, not child pornography. So, even though I've done absolutely nothing wrong, a stranger gets the opportunity to go through hundreds or thousands of my private photographs? What if I have completely legal pictures of my wife naked? I should be fine with letting them snoop through my personal shit? Seems like that "review" job might be a ripe place to start looking for actual perverts and pedos. What about documents? Will they have to go through all my documents to determine I haven't copied pictures into a word file so they aren't jpgs? I often have some sensitive, confidential work info that I have accessed on my phone. Fair game to look through that?
  14. 85+% masked at my daughter's middle school for orientation. Parents and kids and teachers. I was impressed. I had already told my daughter that she'll be wearing a mask and explained why. She was completely cool with it. Looks like the majority will also be wearing masks, so that's good. She's 11, but we're also taking her to get the vaccine in a couple weeks since she just had her other school shots today.

So maybe this should go into the 2020 music thread, but I came across the latest Blitzen Trapper album, Holy Demos, Future Demos. It seems to be the same songs as last years album Holy Smokes, Future Jokes but haven't listened enough to both to determine the differences other than maybe less production. In either form, its pretty badass and I highly recommend checking it out. Always appreciated their 70s vibe and unique song structure. Baptismal Sons and Unwed Mothers Holy Smokes, Future Jokes Don't Let Me Run Requiem Hazy Morning
  16. For anyone that is having trouble with Tapa. I was apparently logged out of surly on Tapa when shit got borked and my password wasn't working to login. I hit the reset password and it kept spinning and never went to the reset page. I closed the app, reopened it, and I was logged in and could access the site. Just FYI if anyone has similar issues.
  17. Tapa still not working for me. Nothing showing up.
  18. Actually it's more about talking past each other by lumping opinions you disagree with into a single position taken by the "other" side instead of correctly attributing a position to the single poster who made a specific statement. Then claiming goalposts are moving. Just my $0.02 from mostly observing the discourse here and I'm not accusing you or anyone specifically. But it happens all the time.
  19. EGOC news Found this. I'm in at 0.002 so this run up has been good. Already dumped 3 million shares at 0.005 and 0.008 so way into the money already. Still have 1 million so if this could run on up to a dollar, I'd be good.
  20. Anyone with insight into EGOC?
  21. Interesting, my wife lived in Campinas when she was a kid.

Second half of the album is significantly stronger than the first half. To be honest, after the 1st 4 songs I had tuned out. Wooden Soldiers is alright. Starting with Transmitting/Receiving, the rest is really, really good.
  23. 24 hour media is definitely a significant issue as well. Beyond misinformation in the race to be first, the 24-hour news cycle is part of the insular groupthink and people only listen to what they want to hear and have it beat into their head over and over and over and over. It also provides a perfect outlet for some depressed, hate-filled, nobody to become the most widely known person in the world. In this celebrity-driven world, that's a huge draw for someone that feels like they are invisible and noone understands them.
  24. I have this. It's great other than being a little messy. But never had a single issue with it in a couple years.
