Got it. I remember the 00's when Leander was always a really tough game. They had great teams. What happened to the program? Did they lose kids to both Cedar Park and Vandegrift?
Farther is correct. But I make less grammatical mistakes than you. 🤣 Aside from Bowie and Dripping Springs who have good and great programs, this was the competition: Akins Austin High Johnston San Marcos Hayes Anderson Del Valle Not exactly murderer's row
Why would Westlake and Lake Travis families and schools want to travel further to play better competition? I can assure you they would have preferred to stay south, have shorter drives, play weaker teams, and focus on the playoffs.
Yet another example of what separates Curt Cignetti from other coaches. It's his attention to detail and mindset. He spoke on why he doesn’t smile during games and why whenever he is happy, he doesn’t show it: “No, that’s not right. There’s a lot of times I am happy. I just don’t show I’m happy, and if I’m going to ask my players, the first play to play 150 the same regardless of the competitive circumstances, then I can’t be seen on the sideline high fiving people and celebrating. What’s the effect going to be? ... I’ll smile and celebrate in the coaches room with the coaches..."
I'm curious if other major schools have the outline of their state in their logo. I can't think of any, except Indiana, which sometimes have their letters inside the outline of their state. Can anyone think of any others? It's almost as if the Aggies are trying to exert some kind of ownership and dominance, as if they visually trying to overcompensate for not being, well, the university that represents the state of Texas.
A: I mostly agree with you. My point is that for some driven, successful people, you can't separate their nastiness from their better instincts. Based on the behavior of his brother and father, he looks to have had a pretty crappy upbringing and it may have provided him the edge to achieve more. Happy, nice content people often don't do as well out in the world. He was able to channel his anger. B: 100% agree
I got to to spend two days with Tom Landry. This was maybe three years after he was retired and was for an MCI TV commercial. We had some really fun pro football conversations, and since my idea for the commercial was about him being a B-17 bomber pilot, he was in heaven, as we flew a B-17 to the shoot, and he got to sit in it and tell his war stories. He was incredibly interesting. It was a really an amazing experience that I will never forget. I've posted this before but here is the storyboard that he signed for me. :)
Comparing Bill Cowher to Bill Belichick is like comparing: The Captain and Tennille Show to The Sopranos Millie Vanilli to The Beatles the US invasion of Granada to D Day Bill Miller B-B-Q Restaurant to Snows' BBQ Texas A&M University to the University of Texas and I missing any others?
If Harvey Martin gets in, I don't see why Clint Longley shouldn't get in. If Clint Longley gets in, I don't see why Crazy Ray shouldn't get in. If Crazy Ray gets in, I don't see why Sam Hurd shouldn't get in. If Sam Hurd gets in, I don't see why Michael Irvin's drug paraphernalia shouldn't get in.
Fair point on Spygate. Considering Deflategate, I rate it on the same level as home-stadium crap that teams pull. When we lived in New York, the Giants played in the old Meadowlands Stadium. There were two giant doors on field level they would use to move big things in and out of the stadium. The Meadowlands are quite windy, and the doors would be mysteriously opened and closed all game depending on which way the teams were facing. Somehow, the visiting team would always have a huge wind in their face for half the game, but never the Giants.
