This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
It's no longer 1998. The coaches last year didn't prepare well enough for that contingency by findng suitable replacements. They didn't seem to have planned well to replace the graduating players, which is why the season was kinda of shit show. Strange how you pumpers seem to be just fine with last season.

Not the same players. Texas ditched all those young players this January and replaced them with older players. Guessing the recruiting classes will be smaller now, as well. Gonna be tougher for kids coming out of HS to find a home.

Well, last year, Texas didn't seem to think that was important. Texas just greatly changed the average age of their players from last August to now, so apparently, our fabulous coaches, until quite recently, did not understand the importance of a senior and experienced team.

What is embarrassing is that all the big athletic departments and coaches are now shamelessly switching up their recruiting strategy to copy Cignetti's blueprint. Texas has gone much older from just this fall. And, of course, the coaches will try to sell the fans that it was their genius idea. Brad Kellner at Locked On Longhorns details the average age change at Texas.

For sure, but how on earth did Texas end up with Charlie freaking Strong?

Sadly, we could do so with any random coach and players and probably equal the results from 2011-2022. ☹️

My question is simple and I am guessing a lot of fanbases around the country are wondering the same. If a moribund program like Indiana can hire a coach no one wanted and he brings in low-rated players and they beat up on blue-bloods while winning a championship in their second season, why can't Texas, with far greater resources, also win a championship?

It's not really debatable. Mack won three conference championships, coached Texas in two national championships and won one. Sark won one conference championship.

The days of signing 29-players are probably over, and that's a good thing, since half don't pan out anyways.

Sorry, that excuse is no longer relevant in college football. Cignetti also had to rebuild the entire program, and did it at one of the very worst programs of all time in one season, and did it with no-name players. His masterful personnel and coaching job has officially put all the Sarkisians, Norvells, Lannings, Rileys, Sanders, Freemans, Swinney's, etc, on the hot seat.

I have no problem with his quote and his point is correct.

My bad. Still, other Indiana scores this season: 73-0 55-10 56-9 63-10 (against #9 ranked Illinois) 56-3 38-3 (vs Bama) 56-22 (vs Oregon)

And they beat the living tar out of those teams, unlike fifth-year Sark in our three gimme games.

Games I wish we would schedule, solely for the road trip
Fun fact: West Point is situated where it is because it sits at a major bend in the Hudson River. This made it difficult for British ships to sail quickly past. By being forced to slow down, they made themselves more vulnerable to cannon fire. Still, just to be sure, the Americans stretched an iron chain across the river. Also, the commanding heights made it a difficult place to storm.

Michie Stadium in the Fall. Perched high above the Hudson River at West Point, it's an unparalleled college football experience.

Those players are so greedy. They're ruined the spirit of college athletics. Top College Football Buyouts Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M): Around $76.8 million (2023) Brian Kelly (LSU): Over $53 million (2025) James Franklin (Penn State): Over $45 million (2025) Other Notable High Buyouts Gus Malzahn (Auburn): Nearly $21.5 million (2020) Willie Taggart (Florida State): Over $20 million (2019) Tom Herman (Texas): $15.4 million (2020)

Tell Me About Texas a&m
How embarrassing to talk crap after you lost the game. I hate all idiots at sporting events, but there is special level of stupid to lose and talk crap to someone.
