It’s good, but not overwhelmingly better than Willett 4 yr small batch. The Madeira muddied the flavor a bit and dialed back the intense herbal action, but not sure it’s worth 2-2.5x the 4 yr.
I picked up another spot on my lease in the Austin area and will be in need of a new tower blind for rifle hunting. Is there a go-to place to buy these? My current spot came with a tower and I’m trying to get up and running well before season.
I did a half a goat over oak coals on a spit I made for my fire pit for about 30 people the NYE before Covid and it was pretty amazing.
I think big cuts of meat take the cake here, but another option would be sous vide scallops. You can brown them in clarified butter in about 30 seconds so it’s fast to get them all plated. I’ve done that for maybe 6 people and you could probably stretch to 10 with two pans going without the first scallops getting cold before you sit down.
I almost hate myself. I’ll probably just trade a couple for batches I don’t have, open one and put one in the collection.
If it makes anybody feel better, they hide damn WSR in the back room with OWA and W12 up here.
The crowd at Washington State was pretty thin for a game against USC. But I grabbed ridiculously good 50 yard line tix for $84 so at least the value was there. No beer in the stadium kinda sucks though.
Out west in…*checks map*…Alabama? I think he saw plenty of that but maybe wasn’t paying attention while calling plays behind an NFL grade O-line like he also had at USC.
Now we’re just casually throwing out made up acronyms for non-existent whiskey and nobody even says anything?
I love Gentle Ambler rye so I poured a glen of the 4 yr Old Scoot tonight. Man, nothing goes with a glass of GAOS like football on a warm Texas night.
I like the Woodford VFR. Tried some last night next to Barterhouse 20 and it’s a little drier on the palate and less complex on the nose, but it’s in the ballpark.
