  1. 247 rates him the #2 DL / #21 overall. So where does Texas stand coming out of the Junior Day? "Texas is at the top of my list." **************************************************************************************************** Nation's No. 2 DL Kasi Currie recaps first visit to Texas Jordan Scruggs / Horns 247 Staff Nation's No. 2 DL Kasi Currie recaps first visit to Texas Nation's No. 2 DL Kasi Currie recaps first visit to Texas Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247 / Staff) AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Texas Longhorns hosted its annual Junior Day recruiting event on Saturday, and there was no bigger visitor than Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon five-star DL Kasi Currie. Checking in at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, 247Sports currently ranks Currie as the No. 21 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 defensive lineman in the nation, and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of California. Horns247 was able to catch up with the five-star as he was making his way from the Moncrief Complex to the Moody Center for the Texas-Texas A&M basketball game as part of Saturday's Junior Day itinerary. A former teammate and close friend of Top247 Texas EDGE signee Richard Wesley, who reclassified from the 2027 class to the 2026 class, Currie highlighted getting to see his old friend as the favorite part of the trip. "Seeing my boy Richard Wesley." Currie said. "He just came out here and he was telling me about it over the phone a couple of days ago and I just had to come out and see it." Several coaches made sure to get facetime with the California native. "I talked to coach (Kenny) Baker, coach LaAllan (Clark), and coach Sark today, we had a great conversation." The Longhorns' message was clear: "Just saying that this is the best place for me and I'm gonna get developed and everything I want is here." Currie and Steve Sarkisian seemed to hit it off right away. "I just met him today, this is my first time meeting him and my first here so it was great. It was like we met before." The West Coast product noticed the differences between Austin and other SEC towns and spoke about the similarities the city has to his home in the Los Angeles area. "I'm from Cali, it looks just like Cali, except for the weather, it's cold." So where does Texas stand coming out of the Junior Day? "Texas is at the top of my list." Currie also mentioned LSU and Alabama as the other schools at the front of the race for him and that he intends to take official visits to all three schools in the summer before coming to a decision ahead of his senior season. Oregon is also somewhere in the picture. Currie's scouting report reads as follows: "- Among the most versatile two-way lineman in the country. - Played predominately defensive tackle his first two years of H.S ball and showed an ideal combination of size, length and strength. - Big space eater in the middle of the defensive line, capable of taking on a double team, standing his ground and still making plays. - Shows some raw pass rush ability featuring a strong bull rush and a quick first step. - Moved to offensive tackle as a junior and quickly showed a huge upside on the offensive side of the ball. - Upside might be highest as an interior offensive lineman, boasts prototype frame, feet and physicality for the position. - A fluid mover who gets off the ball well and plays through the whistle. - Has tackle feet, is comfortable in space and has the kind of nastiness you love to see in the trenches." At 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Currie is currently ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 defensive lineman in the nation, and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of California according to 247Sports.
  2. Let me present to you, for its lulz and in all its glory, the differing take of one Mr. FCB, Esq..
  3. @campcrunk - Saw your note in the commitment thread - this is from Horns 247. Longhorns sign Texas legacy, Akron LB transfer Markus Boswell Longhorns sign Texas legacy, Akron LB transfer Markus Boswell Longhorns sign Texas legacy, Akron LB transfer Markus Boswell Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247) The Texas Longhorns have signed Akron LB transfer Markus Boswell. An Austin native who attended Lake Travis, Boswell is a Texas legacy and is the son of former Longhorn and Canadian Olympic high jumper Mark Boswell. The 6-foot-1, 230 pounder played in 12 games as a true freshman in 2025 and will arrive in Austin with three years of eligibility left and a redshirt. Boswell was credited with 19 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one sack, and one interception for his efforts as a freshman. In total, Boswell played 294 snaps including 199 on defense across 11 games. Boswell was a class of 2024 graduate from Lake Travis, but he attended prep school for a year before committing to and signing with Akron over UMass. The Lake Travis product has been on the Longhorns' radar for some time as he camped at and visited Texas during his high school recruitment, and obviously saw campus a lot growing up in Austin and especially with his father being a former a Texas athlete. Boswell also played baseball and competed in track and field in high school. Longhorn legend linebacker Derrick Johnson lives out in the Lake Travis area and has worked with Boswell through the years as well. With the Longhorns losing Anthony Hill and Trey Moore to the NFL Draft and Liona Lefau and Bo Barnes to the transfer portal, linebacker was a major position of need for Texas in this year's portal cycle. Texas has since picked up Pitt transfer Rasheem Biles (No. 3 ranked LB in the portal), Florida State transfer Justin Cryer (No. 25 ranked LB in the portal), and now Biles. Expect Biles and Cryer to start or be in the two-deep with Boswell likely providing depth in his first year in Austin before earning a bigger role down the road. 247Sports has yet to rank Bowell as a transfer portal prospect.
  4. Lockett is a possibility. 247 had said they were watching him, but he was expected to stay ... that may have changed late yesterday.
  5. PSA - updated roster grid from IT - it shows the addition of Siani and Newman, and the loss of Brooks. Does not include Roberson. (This grid's from Jan 15th.)
  6. FYI, CTJ still posts on Horns 247. His handle is "biscuitbob."

High Top100 tight end Brock Williams is a big-time talent at his position in the class of 2027. In fact, 247Sports lists the 6-5, 210-pounder as the No. 2 tight end in the entire country. Here is the latest on the elite offensive weapon. A few key visits are on deck...Tom Loy (247 Sports) Libertyville (Ill.) High Top100 tight end Brock Williams is a big-time talent at his position in the class of 2027. In fact, 247Sports lists the 6-5, 210-pounder as the No. 2 tight end in the entire country. Williams, who is slotted at No. 38 overall nationally, has offers from all over the country. However, as has been the case for a while, there are three schools setting the tone in his recruitment. Here is the latest. Williams has narrowed his recruitment to Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas. All three schools have reasons for optimism, as an expected decision quickly approaches this spring. Here is what Williams said about all three finalists. WILLIAMS ON OHIO STATE"I love Ohio State because of my relationship with coach 'Kee' [Keenan Bailey] and the whole coaching staff. I also love how much they used the tight end this year in their offense. I really think I would fit in there. Plus, it's Ohio State, the No. 1 team in the country." WILLIAMS ON GEORGIA"The thing I love about Georgia is obviously what they do at the tight end position, but I am also super close with Coach Hartley and Coach Smart. They have great people all around the facility, and they use those freshmen tight ends." WILLIAMS ON TEXAS"I love Texas because of what they have to offer for me and how they view me in their offense. I also am super close with my guy, Coach Banks, and that's huge as well. They have great people all around, and they definitely make me feel the love. The things they did at the tight end position were also huge." UPCOMING VISITSWilliams tells 247Sports that he will be in Austin visiting Texas on Jan. 24. He is looking at getting to Georgia on Jan. 30. There is nothing set yet with Ohio State. TOM'S TAKEThe more you talk to him, the more you think Georgia is the favorite. He loves the Bulldogs and never shies away from that. However, interestingly enough, Ohio State would be absolutely floored if it didn't land him. The Buckeyes couldn't feel better about their chances. Texas is hopeful and believes they have a real shot. The Longhorns would love nothing more than to move the needle next weekend. TURN ON THE TAPEThe length immediately jumps out on tape when it comes to Brock Williams. That's exactly what college coaches are looking for in an immediate impact at the tight end position. He's far from a maxed-out prospect frame-wise, which will allow him to add muscle, mass, and size to his lean frame without sacrificing his athleticism and speed. It's also not hard to evaluate a player like Williams. Don't overthink it. Very few teams do as much with their tight ends as Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas, so with all three slotting him as the top tight end on the board, it's easy to see why Williams is such an elite talent. In getting to know Williams, he has the physical tools, the work ethic, and the football intelligence to be a game-changer in any of these offenses. It's also not hard to compare him to Georgia great and first-round pick Brock Bowers. There are plenty of similarities between them at the same stage of their careers.
