Texas Recruiting Notes 2027: I remember watching his dad play
(Content in the Stampede, on 2026 recruits, posted in the 2026 thread.) The Stampede: Latest Texas football recruiting intel (2027) Horns247 Staff Latest on 2027 RB target Speaking of breaking records, Richmond Randle 2027 five-star RB Landen Williams-Callis is getting closer and closer to putting his name atop the rushing records in Texas High School football. Though Jonathan Gray's career touchdown record of 205 will likely never be broken Williams-Callis is currently on pace to finish second all-time in career rushing scores. The 5-foot-7.5, 190 pounder recently eclipsed the 5,000 career rushing yards mark on Friday and at the pace he's on he should finish top 10 in career rushing yards as well. Williams-Callis' latest performance included 28 carries for 342 yards and six touchdowns on an average of 12.2 yards per carry in a huge 49-42 rivalry win over Iowa Colony. Williams-Callis lost two fumbles on Randle's first two possessions of the game, but the five-star bounced back and was able to lead Randle to a comeback victory after being down 21-0 in the first quarter. As far as the recruitment goes, at one point in the process, former Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice had the Longhorns at the front of the race for Landen Williams-Callis. Then Detroit came calling and Choice left, and the recruitment opened up a lot more. Williams-Callis has taken trips to Texas A&M and Oklahoma this fall, and he also has visits coming up to Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, and Texas A&M again. He looked into the Texas-Oklahoma game in Dallas, but since the recruits are only allowed in the stands and can't talk to coaches before or after the game, he's now looking at visiting Austin in November. However, the trip is yet to be scheduled to Horns247's knowledge. The highest ranked running back to come out of the Lone Star State in several cycles, Texas will need to land two at the position in 2027 and there wouldn't be a bigger running back class headliner than Williams-Callis. However, there's work to be done as far as getting Texas back to pole position in the recruitment. The Longhorns staff made it out to Randle this past week to visit and chat with Williams-Callis in person, but again, there's work to be done in this recruitment for Texas. (SCRUGGS)

Sweed's catch in the 05 game is the stuff of legend, and rightfully so. A couple of other things are hardly ever even mentioned - - Pittman had 130 yards / 1 TD receiving - the other - the contribution that sticks in my mind - is that of Jamaal Charles, as a receiver. Charles had 6 catches for 69 yards. As a true freshman. In his second game as a longhorn. On the road, vs. Ohio State. And in his secondary role (receiving). Pretty remarkable. In this game, I'm hoping Baxter/Wisner, as receiving threats, can play a big role. Unless we fall significantly behind, I have a suspicion Sark will be conservative. Minimize risks/TOs and take what you get safely and easily on offense, instead of putting your OL and young QB under pressure (and testing their best defensive player). So I think they try to run it and use conservative throws, and in that scenario, Baxter and Wisner may get lots of looks as receivers.- Week One CFB Preview: Very Real Very Fast

So, FCB had the section below, in his note on the Horns 247 board. Has it been officially announced, that Texas' three annual opponents will be OU/Aggie/Arky? FCB makes it sound like a done deal ... and we know he's buds with CDC. Am sure he's at least tried to get the inside scoop from CDC. Wonder whether he inadvertently or intentionally put that in, after he heard that from Del Conte. Also, FYI - Karels on the Aggie board has mentioned multiple times that Jimbo Fisher revealed in '22 that Texas, LSU and Miss State were the three permanent opponents discussed then, for the Aggies.- New SEC divisions and pods thread (Page 38 starts recent discussion)

Gerry just said Goosby's injury was a hand issue - fingers caught in a jersey - could be wrapped, and goal was to get him back by beginning of next week; could possibly be back earlier than that. Gerry / Bobby didn't make too much of the moves - develop emergency depth - then wondered whether Sark would actually move Neto to LT in a game, if required. (If Goosby went down - just a hypothetical, people, nothing to do with the hand injury!) Speculated about whether Robertson could be the sixth-best OL (and so bringing him in causing the ripple effect on others ...). Gerry thought the depth at center was the best he had seen (or something positive to that effect).- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
