  1. “After very careful consideration…Trump’s America sucks.”
  2. “Second to none, except for the USA!” So, second to one. There’s nothing about him that isn’t as dumb as possible. Even the most trivial choices, he manages to select “maximum dumb.”
  3. I gotta tell ya, I’ve envisioned a lot of scenarios. I didn’t have “the resistance to a terrorist occupation force will begin in earnest in Minnesota, led by pure-dee Midwesterners” as one of those…but here we are. The battle is joined. It must not end until freedom and the republic is secured. A whole lot more people are gonna die.
  4. Just fucking pure and beautiful and what is good in life.
  5. Second type is fake confidence, third type is real - but unmerited - confidence. That’s what we’ve fallen for and where we are, type 3.
  6. Maybe he’s a terrible cook and those are the ingredients for a terrible recipe. Didja think about that, smart guy?
  7. We best get our body bag supply lined up. We’re going to need a lot of em. The mission is to terrorize and brutalize the American people until we surrender and submit. It’s what occupying forces do. Nanking. Nazi-Occupied Europe. Minneapolis. It’s all the same. They are going to execute many, many more of us. But also understand that they’re going to start doing it out of the public eye. They’ll take you, and the execution will happen at a secondary site. Maybe your family will find out where your body is. Maybe you will just disappear, never to be heard from again. And yes, there will come a time and place where people will stand their ground and shoot, because if they take you, you’re dead. We’re in the end-game. It’s underway.
  8. There’s also really something to this. Think about our discussions about incels, and their challenges with women. We almost always come back to the advice of “show some confidence” among the things they should do. And it’s clear, women are attracted to men who show confidence. But here’s the thing; there’s a real confidence that is based on actual wisdom and strength, there’s fake confidence that’s just a show, and then there’s confidence that is not merited, but authentic - think of a dude who can barely ride a bicycle who absolutely believes he can fly an F-16. Women stay attracted to the first type. Almost all women see through the second type soon enough; a few stupid ones don’t. And stupid women remain impressed by the third type. As a society, that’s where we are right now. Governed by the third type, with 40% of us convinced that overconfident moron is a genius.
  9. In this era, presume corruption ubless proven otherwise. You’ll end up right WAY more often than you’re wrong.
  10. When the government and the oligarchs are a single force….yeah. You knew that. Rules are enforced against only those who are disloyal to the regime or who haven’t paid the regime protection money. Pay your protection money/bribes/prove loyalty? You can sell 1 lb rolls of shit marked as 2 lb rolls of beef, and you’ll be just fine. That’s literally the entire point of this regime and the structure it has created nationwide. We descended into an unvarnished, unabashed corrupt kleptocracy so much faster than even I thought possible. And it really helps that 40% of Americans are bootlickers who call that “winning.”
  11. This. Why are people talking about this as if it’s a real movie and real transaction? It’s nothing of the sort. It was a $40 million bribe/payment of protection money. That’s it. That’s the entire transaction, stop talking about it as if it had ANY legitimacy.

That is indeed good stuff…but I’m still a Crystal man.
  13. Nobody’s been through Cuero lately?
  14. Because…and this is an important, refutable truth…we are a demonically evil country, both beyond and unworthy of redemption. Seriously, if the Lord God appeared in the sky tomorrow and said “for your relentless choice to turn to evil, I am going to wipe the United States and all in it from the earth,” I’d give a “that checks out” nod and finish my lunch before the apocalypse.
  15. It’s inherent in the programming. There is no such thing as malfeasance by any fascist or any lawless oligarchy. If they do them, they are by definition good and moral. To think otherwise would cause their brains to seize up.
  16. Yep. No kindness. No mercy. No quarter. These are the rules now. Follow them.
  17. Which is really the perfect metaphor for where we are: MAGA: a bunch of people who think they'll be the fuckers, when in reality, they're always gonna end up the fuckees.
  18. I'm really trying to plot based on what we already have. We have a bunch of leftovers in the fridge, so my wife will want us to make a dent in that. Some meatloaf, fajitas, quesadillas, stuff like that. May need to make that lunch tomorrow. I have fixings for some good homemade Ramen, including some roasted chashu pork (of which I have plenty). May also use the chashu pork to make simple pork and vegetable rice bowls. I have the makings for green chili cheese grits, and/or shrimp and grits. Can make a decision on that come game time. Have some Rao's chicken soup in the pantry for a nice little soup course with something. Have the fiskesuppe mix. Need a potato and a piece of salmon. May hit Randalls for that after I winterproof my dad's place later tonight. Plenty of breakfast stuff. May even do a warm scottish porridge one morning. You don't gotta overthink this shit.
  19. What's disgusting? That she's mocking Erika? Or that her mocking is accurate?
  20. Yep. Our education system has fallen into this old trap (a simplified cliche, but one that works): Our education system is (as my wife put it) "great for girls who sit nicely with their bright shiny faces" and shitty for boys who are wriggly and squirmy and learn kinesthetically. And it only gets worse as it progresses. Boys and girls learn differently, and at varying speeds (it ain't no mystery that girls mature intellectually more quickly). My wife and I were products of single-sex high schools, and we both thought then and still agree that it was an excellent approach. Their classroom dynamic was definitely different than my classroom dynamic, and it was ideal for the students in each system.
  21. My bottom-line advice to aspiring law students/lawyers for years has been this: There are 6-8 "national prestige" law schools, maybe even fewer. If you get into Harvard, Yale, or Stanford....you should probably go there. Likewise, there are maybe a dozen law schools that have such shitty reputations that they won't get you in any meaningful doors (avoid Hollywood Upstairs Law School). Don't go to one of those. Otherwise, think about, in this order, (1) the region you want to settle in/practice in (if you want to live in Texas.....then going to law school in Texas will give you a leg up on getting a job in Texas); (2) the price (graduating with little/no debt is huge), and (3) the quality of the school. That means that if you want to practice in Texas, then going to Texas, Baylor, Tech, South Texas, UH, SMU, St. Mary's will all give you a shot. Some are more regional within Texas (San Antonio, Dallas, Houston), so account for that - if you want to practice in Houston, probably don't attend SMU. If you're choosing between two schools and the quality/prestige gap isn't big, but the money gap is, pick the cheaper school. In Texas, if you get into UT, go -- it's still a decent deal, even at full price. Otherwise, pick a school that's cheapest and/or in the community you want to practice in. And, as a general rule, the lower the "prestige" of a school is, the more important it is that you perform. Top third of your class at Texas gets pretty decent jobs. Might take top 20% at UH to say the same. And if you're Ivy league, just graduate, and you've got a good shot at a good gig. Finally....within a few years of graduating, it don't make a shit. Show me what you got. I've looked at 5-year lawyers from schools I've hardly heard of who impress the hell out of me, I've looked at 5 year lawyers from Ivy league schools who I wouldn't let draft basic discovery for me. Graduate, learn, and become a good fucking lawyer. Nobody asks me where I went to school, nobody cares.
  22. Oklahomans almost certainly know Oklahomans better than anyone else knows Oklahomans, so....can you blame them?
