  1. Thanks for sharing the update! That sounds encouraging, keep on kicking its ass!
  2. I was at Barton Spring Pool on Sunday and can confirm there's still some good toplessness there.
  3. This is one of the most persistent falsehoods I hear mentioned. I've lived easy walking distance to the park for 20 years and this has never been the case. Most of the time it is "closed" for events you can still use the park during the daytime / when the events aren't actually happening. Yes, there are a handful of days where most of it is off limits but it's nowhere near the amount of time people like to bitch about (like the quote above)... and if they ever attempted to use the park they'd know that. I've had neighbors over the years who complain about this too and all it tells me is that they never use the park anyway, so even if it was true it's funny that they'd care.
  4. Hah, yep, that was a glorious summer for greenbelt shenanigans.
  5. I learned how to drive in Houston and then lived there for almost a decade after graduating from college. Driving was a fucking beating, but like @Brisketexan said, you at least knew what you were getting into- and were used to it! I moved to Austin 20 years ago and initially was annoyed as fuck and super frustrated by how the majority of drivers were just "Zombie Cars" with nowhere to be- it was a fucking beating. After a few weeks of it sinking in (2005ish) it occurred to me that "oh, I don't have to drive like an asshole here." 20 years later I'll still take driving in Houston over dealing with Zombie Austin drivers.

Not a burger but posting because Crown & Anchor. Frito Pie for lunch today and it was fucking delicious... After that I walked over to Posse for another beer
  7. I've done it on an early February morning. Ages ago a buddy and I were doing an early morning run on the trail and he suggested/dared jumping in the pool so we took the spur over from the creek bridge. We stayed in for ~10 minutes (it felt super nice) knowing it was going to be cold as fuck when we got out. It was fun to do, but once was enough for me.
  8. Last night was 9:00 and they finished a little before 11:30.
  9. The LCD Soundsystem show tonight was absolutely awesome- f'ing magnificent. GO!
  10. I'll be there tonight too- looking forward to it!
  11. Lopez, fuck yes! I had lunch there weekly in the mid-late 1990s when I worked at the Texas Instruments campus around the corner.
  12. Ah, yes, got it. You had to roll your own joints.
  13. The Deviant Psychology section was always an excellent place to kill some time.

I read that in Joe Pesci's voice. Sounds similar to what I experienced last year- when I scheduled mine the first appointments were 2-3 months out.
  15. I saw you there during sxsw- would've said hello and introduced myself IRL but between the crowd and music you wouldn't have heard a word I said. 😀
  16. Hi buddy- good to hear you. Cheers mofo!!
  17. Fantastic. The only townie Easter shenanigans I recall was the White Trash Easter Bash, which was somewhere fairly far southwest of campus. My first time it was just folks in a field partying but by my last year it had evolved into an enormous crawfish boil with big regional bands, etc. Super fun time, but waaaay more complicated/hassle of the years before.
  18. Love the nostalgia in the last handful of posts- reminds me of the bars across the street from my dorm in the early 1990s at Texas Tech (I had a passable fake ID for that era). Penny Pitchers, Any Coin / Any Drink, Nickel Longnecks, Power Hour at J. Pat's, etc. Every bar on Broadway would have a similar special from 5-11pm (full price after 11:00) so you were pretty much drinking for whatever you were willing to tip. The BYOB all-nude strip clubs- yeah, we all understand the quality level here- would waive cover for the whole group if we brought women with us. Fun memories- cheers!!
  19. Didn't see a better spot to post this, but wanted to give a shout out to ABGB's pizza and beers. Stopped by earlier to pick up a 4pk of Superliner IPA and a calabreze pizza to go with March Madness games. Both are fucking fantastic. R.I.P. Mark, you fantastic SOB. Thanks for the laughs, the music, the excellent food (+ salet), and all of the awesomeness you brought to our lives.
